FULL-TIME
Lomax nails it.
LOMAX! HATTY
Bula knocks on - this is getting really really ugly.
Bula knocks on - this is getting really really ugly.
Off the upright and IN for 50!
Lomax adds some further salt into the wound.
Suli is HELD UP!
Hunt kicks it in the in-goal and Bula takes no chances.
Pass to Olam is very forward to Naden. Stone is 3/3 on forward passes tonight.
NO TRY - PEN TIGERS: Obstruction.
VIDEO REF SGI: Butler has NO TRY looking at confirming obstruction
Dragons haven't scored 50 at WIN since they did it to Manly in Women in League Round all the way back in 2017
Tigers have had 37% total possession. Dragons absolutely dominating it tonight.
Olam skids a little too close to the sideline and Jon Stone's flag is raised.
You feeling sorry for some of these Tigers players - the effort is clearly there in some of them.
De Belin keeps it and then forces and error, he had support left and right and he decided to play hero ball. He offloaded it too late and forces an error.
Lomax adds the extras
Despite their best efforts, Wests’ couldn’t trouble the scorer in the second half after Seyfarth was denied for a double movement with 15 to go. From that penalty, Jacob Liddle caused havoc in the middle linking up with his middles to send Flanagan away before finding Mat Feagai for his second.
That is a clear double movement from Seyfarth
VIDEO REF: Double movement.
Pass knocked down by Hunt.
PENALTY TIGERS: Late shot from Francis Molo.
Lomax is on report for the contact - no sin-bin for the contact.
Alaimalo took the ball so brilliantly! Lomax comes through carelessly and takes the winger's legs.
PENALTY TIGERS: Tackle in the air. Solomon Alaimalo is in massive trouble here...
Short kickoff is ineffective.
Lomax adds the extras.
Hunt grubber kicks the ball, everyone is in slow motion, Luciano Leilua scoops it up and improves the position slightly for try six.
Back 13 v 13.
Stefano puts it down and you have a feeling tonight that the way this second half has unfolded, the Tigers might be losing the plot a little here.
Samuela Fainu flipped RFM after the pass, didn't like the feedback and the ref somehow rules play on.
Now the Dragons' biggest points for in a game this season.
Lomax adds the extras.
Ben Hunt shows and goes to cross. After scoring the try, Hunt has thrown the ball on top of Samuela Fainu and it's inflamed another spot fire.
Tigers starting to fall off tacklers here.
Seyfarth puts it down. This young Tigers team has been imploding this second 40.
Jon Stone has that forward pass for the second time tonight!
Lomax adds the extras.
Capitalising on the extra man advantage and some real elementary mistakes, the Dragons went down the Sullivan edge to cross. Hunt caught all the defenders on the right edge napping as he delivered a wonderful pass to Luciano Leilua to cross.
Solomon is winning the aerial battles but that was one battle he could've done without.
Lomax adds the penalty goal.
Dragons are continuing the tradition of going for goal while having an extra man advantage.
Sullivan is gone to the bin! Professional foul.
VIDEO REF: Butler has NO TRY claiming a professional foul on Luciano.
Eisenhuth causing all sorts in the middle to send Liddle away - then off the next play it seemed to go wrong when Lobb intercepted it but he got dragged into touch.
Lomax adds the extras.
St George Illawarra capitalised on a slow second half start from the Tigers to cross first. A nice shift saw Flanagan deliver a wonderful pass to Suli get through a yawning gap exposing the poor edge defence of the Tigers. Suli got it away to Mat Feagai to cross for the try.
Dropout is intermediate in range as the Dragons maintain possession.
Butler rules it's all off the Tigers and it'll be a goal-line drop-out.
SIX AGAIN SGI - Slow peel against Pole
Report from Matt Russell on the sideline that Adam Doueihi is expected to return next week. Wouldn't surprise us if it's via the KOE NSW Cup.
PENALTY DRAGONS: Slow peel against Pole
Looked like a classic disruptor from Samuela there.
Both sides each getting through their opening sets!
Back underway for the second half of action from the Gong. Tigers will get first use of the football in the second half.
Liddle PASSED HIA and has stitches in his cheek. Same with Flano after his earlier cut in the first half.
HT - Tigers 14 lead Dragons 12.
No good.
Off the back of two late penalties, Sullivan dug deep into the line to find Alex Seyfarth who redeems himself for the penalty that he conceded minutes earlier and gets the lead back for the visitors.
Can the Tigers get a late try.
PENALTY TIGERS: Inside 10m
Jacob Liddle still undergoing a HIA.
I agree with the bunker on this one and it will come back as a double movement.
VIDEO REF: Butler has a NO TRY confirming a double movement. Flanagan seems confident on this one though.
PENALTY DRAGONS: Misconduct against Alex Seyfarth - challenge won't happen after all that. Explain that to a first time watcher for 1000 please Alex.
Referee has ruled a change over and now we have a massive all in and now we have some bru ha ha. Not sure what has happened here. I think we have a challenge in all of this.
Olam has lost it here... but the Tigers are going to challenge this one. Loose carry is the ruling that is upheld and the challenge is unsuccessful with 4:06 to play.
Some real hot potato footy from the Dragons sees them taken down on the last. On the next play, Ben Murdoch-Masila has been taken down
Jacob Liddle is in Disney Land here - I suspect we might have a concussion test for Liddle here. Looked to cop an accidental elbow from Seyfarth.
Round 2 is also won by Alaimalo - I think we have found a way to nullify the bomb take of Lomax. Just get someone tall opposite him.
Onto the field now for his NRL debut is Reuben Porter!
Lomax v Alaimalo is won by... Alaimalo???? Well done young man!
Tap and go here for the Dragons.
PENALTY DRAGONS: Escort on Zac Lomax by Jayden Sullivan.
Conversion is good. 12-10 Dragons LEAD!
Moses Suli caught a couple of shocking Tigers defenders offside and bumped away from a couple of tacklers to break away. Suli found Lomax who stepped past a couple of would be defenders to level the scores.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh Bula can't come down with the ball on the bomb! But a great attacking kick
Molo off > Lawrie on
Dragons trying so hard to get the ball out to Lomax and every time they just cannot execute at the moment.
SIX MORE DRAGONS: Marker not square - Stefano Utoikamanu
Fonua Pole coming into the match now.
Lomax adds the extras and it will be 10-6.
After earning the first penalty of the match, the St George Illawarra Dragons had some field position and worked their way back into the game after forcing some errors from the Tigers. A clever cross-field kick from Ben Hunt found a swarm of Tigers players lacking the desire to get the ball, fortunately for the hosts, Tyrell Sloan batted it back to Kyle Flanagan to get the Dragons back into it.
Dragons just seem off at the moment in their attacking shape.
PENALTY DRAGONS: Looks like a spin in the ruck against Justin Matamua.
Tigers get that last tackle option wrong and the Dragons are allowed to escape.
Touch judge gets that call of a forward pass and the Tigers get possession back.
Put that as the live updater's curse. Solomon Alaimalo can't play the ball correctly and a good chance goes begging.
Kick is intercepted by Korosiau and the Tigers are off and running once more. St George Illawarra are getting beaten in the easy areas !
Tigers decide to chance their arm out of their own end, Samuela Fainu tried to find Galvin but the pass had less chance of being caught than I have of being an NRL player.
I don't think the plan to kick to Alex Lobb will work too well for the Dragons.
Half-Break for Solomon Alaimalo but there was a mistake out of dummy half and the Tigers couldn't complete their set after points.
Api converts 10-0.
They are the entertainers here at WIN Stadium. The Dragons defence is caught napping following a right hand shift, Staines offloaded it well to Bula to find the space in open field before linking up with Jayden Sullivan who finished off the movement he started.
Much straighter attack from the Tigers. Strong carries up field, Galvin running the ball is brought down about 5m short of the line and will have to hand it over.
Really aggressive defence from the Tigers. Leading from the front is tiny hooker Api Koroisau.
Tigers and Dragons exchange sets one more. Both Tigers wingers are mega tall wingers so expect a blueprint to form on those cross-field kicks similar to the opener!
Api can't add the extras and it's an early 4-0 lead.
Following an early 40/20 from Api Koroisau, the Tigers set up camp in the Dragons attacking zone and had several chances including Jahreem Bula going so close to scoring. From the ensuing play, Jayden Sullivan put a clever cross-field kick in and in his maiden NRL start, Alex Lobb crossed for his maiden NRL try.
Bula going close to the line and he's been held up! Great scrambling defence but nice to see Bula going scheming early in the contest.
Just inside the 40 and out of dummy half, Api has nailed the 40/20 and the Tigers get it perfect to get the first attacking chance.
Matt Russell saying the surface has held up very well despite 200 MMS of rain in the last 36 hours in Wollongong. Looks an absolute picture tonight.
Both sides able to get through their opening sets and both getting over the opposition's side of halfway. Tigers get a slightly better kick away!!
GAME ON! Chris Butler blows time on and we are underway for Round 14 of the NRL season. It will be the Dragons with first use of it running from right to left.
Referee for tonight's main game is Chris Butler in NRL match number 143 for him in the middle. Todd Smith and Jon Stone have the flags while Adam Gee is at the controls of the NRL Bunker.
Onto team news, the return of Lomax, Hunt and Su'a means no place for Finau, Marschke and R.Couchman. Leilua reverts back to the interchange bench. For the Tigers, they are 1-17 and tonight will see the NRL debut of Reuben Porter, a 27 year old who has worked incredibly hard since bursting on the scene in the Holden Cup with the Roosters before bouncing around looking for chances before finding his way to the Tigers and a well earnt debut tonight.
Round 14 kicks off tonight with a Friday Night Footy clash between two desperate teams looking to solidify their place in the competition. St George Illawarra against the Tigers. Tonight is almost the coming of age for the Tigers, a win can solidify what Benji Marshall is building, while a loss will heap even more pressure on the club. The Dragons have been the surprise packets of 2024 with impressive scalps including Penrith last start.
