BURTON OFF THE POST AND THROUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Burton in position.
Dogs now up and over halfway
Hynes from short range, NO GOOD! Wide left.
Trindall and Hynes are deep
Sharks on the attack!
Challenge is unsuccessful!
Remember we have 2 x 5 minute periods in this one. Hughes knocks on... or does he. Dogs are challenging the ruling of a loose carry.
Underway for Golden Point
Cronulla won the toss and they will stay the same way they ran in H2.
NO GOOD AGAIN! Burton is just wide RIGHT and we are off to GP!
Here we go!
PENALTY DOGS: Illegal blocker against Oregon Kaufusi
Sharks will have a chance at a field goal for certain here.
Burton's attempt is NO GOOD! Wide right.
Burton is in position!
Dogs in their own end, can they get into range for a shot!
Let the field goal shoot-out begin!
Also - Toby Rudolf was HOOKED for giving away that penalty.
WE'RE LEVEL AT 14!
Dogs will shoot for two.
PENALTY DOGS: Tackle off the ball.
SIX AGAIN DOGS: Slow peel against Ramien.
Great mark from Kennedy sees the Sharks defend the Dogs attack.
Early kick for Curran!!!!!!!!! Oh so close for the big front rower.
SIX MORE DOGS: Slow peel against Teig Wilton.
Great tackle from Hynes. He has been great in defence this evening.
Oregon Kaufusi is placed on report. He does lower his neck onto Wilson but Wilson has some contribution with the surrender and turn into the back of Kaufusi. We don't like to see the crusher tackles.
Just starting to feel Cronulla might be putting Canterbury further in the vice grip. The Dogs are struggling to come up with much in terms of attack at this moment.
Skelton is the man that has come from the ground.
Taaffe is on for the Bulldogs!
Cronulla now putting Canterbury through the test, very similar situation to the Parramatta game that they find themselves in at the moment.
Hynes has missed !
VIVA RONALDO! Following a break, the bomb went up high in the air. Ronaldo Mulitalo took the ball uncontested, he was somehow able to get boot to ball and Braydon Trindall is there to pick it up and cross to give the Sharks the lead.
Hynes with the half-break. Brailey and Nicho combining nicely !
SIX MORE DOGS: Ruck infringement but it happens literally a PLAY after the six again is signalled. Max King puts it down in strong contact by Jack Williams front on.
Oh that's a blatant forward pass from Trindall. Again, Matt Noyen is in a brilliant position and stands still to signal the forward pass.
Sharks starting to chance their arm a bit more throwing some risque offloads and earning the right to do so.
Really important period for the Bulldogs here. Time to bite down on the mouthguard and fight for this important victory to stay in touch with the top 4.
No goal from Nicho. 12-10 Dogs
After the miscues. The Sharks went scheming down the blind-slide, finally utilsing Ramien who got it out to Sione Katoa who sprinted down the sideline. Katoa was able to be the dragging cover defence to go over for the first try of the second stanza.
Mahoney with the worst 40/20 attempt of the season.
Josh Curran was with the trainer a few moments ago with a foot problem. He is battling on at the moment.
Nikora tries to offload it at the line and it comes out. These sides need to learn how to put a successful grubber in behind. Bulldogs got exposed badly by Sam Walker last week in that area.
PENALTY SHARKS: Slow peel
Dogs turn it over on the last in the 10 x 10 corridor.
PENALTY DOGS (Challenge Successful). Sexton retrospectively on report for a crusher tackle in the preceding set.
CHALLENGE DOGS: Ruling is loss ball by Critta
Burton over half-way. Now the Dogs capitalising on field position
Nicho's pass to Hunt has been called back. Matt Noyen in excellent position and calls it forward. Hunt was over for all money
Really interesting period here after the break for both sides. Both made errors in their opening sets. Now Cronulla go from defence to attack as Katoa sends Kennedy flying down field into Dogs territory.
Thankfully the pass from Kiraz went forward which is unchallengable.
Hazelton goes for a short ball and the Sharks spill it free. Dogs on the attack!
Back underway with the Dogs getting first use of it.
Doesn't eventuate to much and the Dogs lead 12-6 at the HT break.
SIX AGAIN SHARKS: Slow Peel
Sharks with the final say of H1
Pass knocked down by the Sharks.
SIX AGAIN DOGS: Slow peel against Brailey
PENALTY DOGS: Inside 10
Quick hands down the right sends Katoa away before he's brought down on the 10. Next play Hynes goes short to Hazelton he's short of the line. Then they bomb it down the left with Mulitalo's pass getting picked off (great tackle from Skelton).
Burton goes for a spiral bomb and has landed it pretty nice. But, it takes a Sharks bounce over the sideline.
Sharks make a mistake on the line. Tried to have Mulitalo come back against the grain but as he went to offload, he loses it into contact.
BUNKER TIME: We have NO TRY confirming Royce Hunt is held up. Gee has a quick decision of HELD UP!
We aren't giving that a 40/20 to Trindall.
Wilson, Critta, Burton, Mahoney, Salmon, Curran all with the head-gear on.
Head-Gear Bankstown Bulldogs has a nice ring to it.
Challenge is unsuccessful from the Sharks.
Ball batted back by Mulitalo but Talakai couldn't handle it. Mulitalo giving a test to Skelton. However, we are challenging with just over 12 to play in this first half.
Burton almost through then but a great cover tackle puts an end to that mini raid.
Ball spills out from Nikora. Bit of a bizarre game-plan from the Sharks. Feels like Ramien and Iro are MIA in the attack.
Your guess what happened there... but the Sharks have it back with a fresh set!
NO TRY SHARKS: Goal line drop-out to come for the Dogs. Sharks get it back!
VIDEO REF: Sutton has no try confirming Trindall doesn't get to the ball.
PENALTY SHARKS: Flop there against Bailey Hayward.
Hynes converts.
Off some ill-discipline from Canterbury, Cronulla were able to build some field position. After making a mistake in the opening set, Cam McInnes made amends with a lovely short pass to Briton Nikora who crashed across to continue his recent purple patch of good form.
Kikau gets in the report book.
PENALTY SHARKS: High shot by Viliame Kikau.
Kikau plays at the ball and makes a mistake. Sharks get a fresh set and some field position.
PENALTY SHARKS: Slow peel against Max King.
Sione Katoa down for the Sharks. May have copped an accidental knee, but we are playing on.
Pass is ruled forward by the touch judge, bit of relief for the Sharks there.
PENALTY DOGS: Slow peel against Rudolf
Burton adds the extras. 12-0 Dogs.
Cronulla kept making mistakes and were left defending their own line. 10 minutes later, they were under their own sticks again as Reed Mahoney fooled the defence to sneak over for the Dogs' second try.
Mahoney's grubber kick played at once more. Here come the Dogs on the line as Burton almost gets through!
PENALTY DOGS: Sharks were offside, Katoa knocks on and Hynes picks it up from an offside position. Bulldogs have absolutely dominated the opening moments here, Cronulla need to reset FAST!
Poor first kick from Hynes, looking for placement but picks out Skelton on the full. Was a strong carry from Nikora preceding that giving the visitors some momentum.
Trindall doing all the deep kicking early for the Sharks. Hynes has been considerably quiet early on.
PENALTY DOGS: Toby Rudolf pinned for being inside the 10m. That's just silly from the Sharks - they had them deep inside their own territory and they concede a penalty.
They do get through it error free ! Dogs stuck inside their own 20 here on tackle 3.
Great kick from the Dogs just goes a fraction too long from Burton. Sharks now work it out of their own end, let's see if they can get through it error free.
Burton adds the extra two and it's 6-0. If this continues for the Sharks tonight, have tweet notifications turned on for our good friend @suthodan.
Despite a sloppy pass from Reed Mahoney out of dummy half. Canterbury capitalised on all the early field position from Cronulla mistakes as Viliame Kikau recovered the pass and grubber kicked ahead. Two Sharks players bumped into each-other and allowed Kikau to score the opening try of the evening.
Mahoney kicks it in behind and it's come off the Sharks so they will get another set on Cronulla's line here the Dogs.
Cam McInnes makes a mistake, a rare mistake from the former NSW lock forward. Just spills it attempting to catch it.
GAME ON! We're underway from Homebush with the Sharks getting first use of it running from left to right on your screen.
Referee for this one tonight is Gerard Sutton in game number 384 in his storied career. Phil Henderson and Matt Noyen are the touch judges while Adam Gee is in the bunker for this clash tonight.
Round 17 gets underway tonight from Accor Stadium in Sydney as the Bulldogs take on the Sharks in an all Sydney top 8 clash. Very cool evening in Sydney tonight but it should be a great clash between these two sides. For the Dogs, Jacob Kiraz is the fullback with Stephen Crichton backing up from Wednesday night. Blake Taaffe reverts to the bench for Jake Turpin while Harry Hayes is the 18th man. Cronulla are 1-16, Teig Wilton replaces Tuku Hau Tapuha on the bench. Dan Atkinson is the concussion sub.
