The Titans weren't without their chances, having multiple sets on Manly's line. However, their execution wasn't as crisp at the opening moments. Foran's pass was intercepted by Talau who set-sailed for the line before being brought down by Fermor. On the ensuing play, Tommy Turbo split the Titans to score.
Talau is away, chased by Fermor and the back-rower gets to him!

Away goes Kelly. Chased by DCE and the old seadog gets to him.
Gold Coast are just playing a little flat now after a strong start.

Manly shifted wide off the kick-off set and found the Titans left edge wanting once more. Turbo found Garrick who broke through Brian Kelly's tackle. Garrick got it away to Turbo who crossed and got into the Olympic fever with a Beach Volleyball serve.

After a frantic start to the second 40 as both sides went back and forth. Manly capitalised on a cheap error from the Titans out of yardage to set up shop in the Gold Coast 20. A wonderful lofted pass from Tom Trbojevic caught AKP asleep at the wheel and Jason Saab had a saloon passage to the line for the first of the second 40.
Josiah Pahulu puts it down as the Titans look to come out of their own end.

Gold Coast got up to the Manly attacking 20m. But, they bundled possession. Saab and AKP collide with Liam Kennedy ruling he's tackled off the ball.

Off the ensuing set post points, Manly marched 100 metres up field. Choosing to run it on the last, Brooks combined with Tommy Talau. Talau hit his mark after an earlier mis-cue and Lehi Hopoate runs it round to a respectable position to score and put Manly in front.
Garrick converts - Fermor will be okay to continue with a rare category three.
After a slow start to the game and several miscued opportunities. Manly hit back with 8 minutes remaining in the first half. Jason Saab lept highest to reclaim a short kick-off and Manly were on the attack. Following a series of ruck infringements and penalties, Luke Brooks caught the Titans left edge asleep and crossed for a great individual try.

Somehow the bunker has cleared the massive bumper up from Garrick which has seen Fermor a little groggy! Manly get it back, some high drama at Brookvale.

Lehi Hopoate is the world's most honest footballer. He gives himself up and rightly so as the replays show a knock on in the contest for the ball.
Talau's pass wasn't on-target. Manly had the extra man down this left edge but the pass was woeful.

Manly aren't having anything their own way at the moment.
Simpkin working his way around the rucks finding Bullemor. Manly have their first clean break of the game. However they again struggle with the last tackle options. The home crowd can't get their way unlike in the western suburbs.
Been a real hot topic the sticky spray with a lot of players struggling to come to grips with the football as they are playing the ball.

Manly's edge was on tenterhooks as Gold Coast went flying down the right edge with JoJo Fifita. After the Eagles conceded another six again on their own defensive line, Beau Fermor used his strength to get past several Manly defenders to get their second in as many minutes.

Gold Coast capitalise on some high risk play. They earned the ball back from a short drop-out and quickly marched their way down-field. The left edge combined once more as David Fifita did well to send Alofiana Khan-Pereira flying down the sideline to score.
Burbo almost gets through but earns his side an extra set. DCE goes for an early kick when the gap appears to open. Fortunately for the hosts, Alofiana Khan-Pereira bats ht dead.

Manly have been thrilling to watch in attack, but questions remain about their consistency. Ben Trbojevic comes in to start in his place alongside older brother Jake in the back row. Elsewhere, Brown is benched with Sipley starting at prop. Taniela Paseka returns from injury on the interchange to fill the vacant spot. Haumole of course suspended for his part in the Origin melee. Gold Coast are 1-17 (yes - Des has done it).
