FT - Dogs 41 def Brisbane 16
Disrespectful field goal.
Reynolds converts
Brisbane finished with a consolation try for their home faithful that remained at the ground. A great short ball from Reynolds found a charging Martin Taupau to cross in game 250 to add some respectability on the score-board.
PENALTY DOGS: Late shot on Mozer. Walsh didn't like that AT ALL
PENALTY DOGS: Hip drop on Curran - Mozer is ON REPORT. Mariner comes from the field.
It looked for all money Kikau was on the sideline but it looks like Ziggy may have gotten that wrong. It's incredibly tight
40-10
CONNOR TRACEY HATTY! Sexton delivers to Preston who's into space, he finds Mahoney then Tracey who crosses for his maiden NRL hattrick.
If Canterbury play like this consistently week on week, on BOTH sides of the ball. Nothing is going to stop them tonight.
Curran crunched by Riki
Brisbane just putting it down now.
Burton converts.
Kiraz added a try after breaking through three tackles to put the game beyond Brisbane's reach.
Sexton kicks into the in-goal. He has had a cracking game tonight.
Goal
Canterbury again took their chances down the right as Xerri and Wilson combined to send the flying Wilson down the sideline. Wilson then linked up with Tracey who beat the cover to score, the referee and Mam had a slight collision with the referee and Tracey then crossed for his second try.
PENALTY BRONCOS: Jacob Kiraz called out by the touchie for being offside on the kick.
Xerri v Staggs has been a match-up to watch
No concern for Reynolds
Reynolds hit as he kicked. I think that could've been a penalty there against Curran. Similar to the Mahoney incident in the first half.
Strong contact on Curran sees him driven back to the 10m. Reynolds is playing on, but there's a considerable limp.
Challenge unsuccessful Brisbane. Reynolds is back up
Staggs has lost it - Brisbane are challenging here and Reynolds is DOWN AGAIN! I REPEAT REYNOLDS IS DOWN
Mam steals it one on one! Is this the moment
Just feel that Canterbury are not going to relent here.
Brisbane channeling the Harlem Globetrotters but the Dogs defence held firm. They recover it
MozerNation rejoyce. Blake Mozer is on
Skelton, Skelton takes off. He passes but that is really forward and Atkins calls it.
Kobe Hethrington placed on report for an alleged hip-drop on Morrin.
Burton nails it
After the break, Canterbury continued from where they started in the first half. Jacob Preston broke through some poor defence and got right up to the goal-line. The Dogs quickly shifted to the left and Tracey got a terrific offload to Kikau to score.
Preston breaks through
Back underway for the second half
Goal from Reynolds sees it 16-10 at the break to the Dogs.
THIS GAME IS BLOODY BANANAS ! THIS IS OBSURD, INSANE, ALL THE ABOVE. Right before the break, Billy Walters went for an excursion, he offloaded to Reynolds who found Mam. Mam grubber kicked in behind, Kotoni Staggs picked it up and turned on the gets. Staggs beat the cover to score a sensational rugby league try.
Skelton goes close to the line! Burton tries the hero play and his offload is picked off by Willison.
PENALTY DOGS: Walsh steals after the held call
Brisbane trying to get the crowd into the game.
Xerri tries the chip and chase. But, he cannot get past Riki! Brisbane desperately need one more before the break you feel.
Haas does a lot - but I think the NRL Police will suspend his kicking licence indefinitely after that effort.
Can the Broncos get their second!
PEN BRISBANE: Hand in the ruck
A BIG PLAY FROM WALSH! 40/20
Canterbury almost take a Bronco in-goal but Hethrington saves the situation.
No goal from Reynolds
Following a Canterbury error. Reece Walsh finally injected himself into the contest with an individual try, he beat Burton and got past three other tacklers to put Brisbane on the board.
That might be a turning point. Kotoni Staggs tries to lift his side and crunches Tracey which forces the ball loose.
Brisbane remain in all sorts
Burton's conversion is waved away.
THE ENTERTAINERS ARE BACK AT SUNCORP! Brisbane had no answers in the opening half. Burton's bomb was allowed to bounce, Wilson bats it back to Kikau, he got it to Mahoney who cross field kicks, he finds Kiraz who reels it in ONE HANDED, finds Skelton to score a classic try that'll make the 1980 Dogs proud !
Brisbane playing passive - not as aggressive with the football.
Preston CRUNCHES Walsh in the rib cage.
Wilson gets away, but a big tackle from Kotoni Staggs sees the touchies flag raised. Brisbane survive.
Brisbane have swapped with Canterbury I am convinced. The Dogs are playing free-flowing attacking rugby league! Brisbane are struggling to keep up and gritting to this 12-0 deficit.
PENALTY BRONCOS: Obstruction - Reynolds bowled over
PENALTY BULLDOGS: A grab from Deine Mariner on a support player
Burton converts
Canterbury's early domination continued as Cam Ciraldo's men were fully intent on completing a Brisbane ambush. A clever grubber from Toby Sexton caught Reece Walsh out of position in the line and Connor Tracey got a room-service bounce to extend Canterbury's buffer.
Burton's cross-field kick is just missed by Kikau. Goal line drop-out coming up. Can Brisbane showcase some resilience. Short attempt is not good !
Brisbane back defending their own line!
Reynolds for a 40/20... takes the unluckiest bounce and goes dead! Had the distance perfect !
Now Jesse Arthars is down with a knee injury.
Cobbo looks in a bit of strife with a left hand injury.
Burton adds the extras. Canterbury out to a well deserved 6-0 lead.
After dominating the early exchanges and forcing the Broncos to work it deep out of their own end. The Bulldogs crossed for the opening try, a brilliant kick return from Jeral Skelton and Jacob Kiraz set the Dogs up in terrific attacking field position. The next play saw a terrific shift which saw Connor Tracey and Bronson Xerri and the flying former Shark crossed for opening points.
Kiraz in open space, beats Mam! Comes to Walsh, brought down 30m out. Can the Dogs score !
Nice and direct from the Dogs. Turning Brisbane around and having to work from deep in their own end.
Walters goes for the 40/20 but well stopped by Tracey!
Brisbane seem to be guilty of already trying to go around the Bulldogs. That's surprising given Canterbury's pack is a little lighter than Brisbane.
Xerri tries to break away down the left ! But the pass is intercepted by Jesse Arthars.
Kikau looks to shake off what appeared to be a burner. Canterbury are one of the best defensive sides in the comp. Big test without Stephen Crichton today! Let's see how they fare!!!!
Good line speed from the visitors, poor attacking set from the home side. Kikau in a bit of trouble on the right hand side for the Dogs.
PENALTY BRONCOS: Mahoney pinned for roughing the kicker unnecessarily after Reynolds kicked it.
Canterbury starting this one very physically. Some big contact from the Dogs - Mahoney cartwheels off Cobbo!
Martin Tapuau leads his team out in his milestone game.
Grant Atkins has the whistle this afternoon. He is assisted on the line by Ziggy Przeklasa-Adamski and Dan Schwass. Wyatt Raymond in the bunker.
A titanic top eight clash between the Broncos and Dogs. Both sides desperate for a win this afternoon. On the team cards, One change each - Tyson Smoothy drops off Brisbane's bench with Corey Oates named, while for Canterbury Stephen Crichton is out, Kiraz moves to centre and Jeral Skelton is in on the wing.
