Round 5: Titans v Roosters NRLW preview

The Roosters travel North to take on the Titans and look to take their fourth win in a row.

The Titans have had an up and down year so far, currently sitting in 6th place, having started their season on a high beating the Dragons and Tigers, before losing to the Broncos with a high points margin, followed by a one-point loss to the Cowboys last week.

The tricolours make a few changes to their line-up that defeated the Dragons last week, with Tiana Davison moving into the starting side at lock, and Samantha Economos coming onto the bench, after being 18th player last week. Amber Hall also moves into the starting second row, with Otesa Pule moving to the bench in her place.

Despite losing their Round 1 clash with the reigning premiers, the Roosters have had a solid season so far, winning every game since. They are sitting in second place, tied with the Eels who have also won three of four games this year.

Gold Coast welcome back Niall Williams-Guthrie to the centres, which sees Taliah
Fuimaono reverts to preferred position, five-eighth, and Lailani Montgomery to drop out of the side. Other than these changes, the Titans remain unchanged.

These two sides last met in the Grand Final qualifier match in 2023, where the Titans kept the Roosters scoreless, with a final score of 12-0.

Last meeting: Semi Finals 2023 - Roosters 0 Titans 12

Who to watch: Scoring a hattrick at home against the Tigers in Round 2, Jaime Chapman is a speedy centre who cannot be stopped once she's off. Along with the three tries so far this season, Chapman has also made 21 tackle breaks and five line breaks.

Playing a dominant role in QLD's Origin series win this year, Tarryn Aikin is having a ripper of a season at the Roosters so far this season, being an important member of the spine. She has scored two tries whilst also having three try assists and three line break assists.

MY TIP: Both teams have the potential to get the job done, but the Roosters are having a strong season and have only lost the one game so far, whilst the Titans had a good start and have hit a bit of a rough patch. Roosters by 8.
