Errors played a part early and just like at the other end, the Indigenous side fired straight back. Mitchell atoned for his mistake by dragging several defenders across to find Josh Addo-Carr to hit back.

Nikorima converts the try for an early 6-0 lead for the Māori side.
Off the back of an error from Latrell Mitchell. The Indigenous line was breached in the first four minutes of play. Māori skipper Joe Tapine crashed over from relatively easy range to cross for the first try of the night.

Latrell Mitchell was ABSOLUTELY CRUNCHED by Dane Gagai and spills the ball in the tackle. A great chance for the Māori side early in the first quarter.
