A fired-up Wests Tigers outfit have pulled off a stunning upset on Sunday afternoon to win the unofficial Lachlan Galvin Cup, beating an error-prone Bulldogs side 28-14 at CommBank Stadium.
Crichton adds the extras.
A late consolation try for the Bulldogs to Josh Curran, who boots the loose ball ahead and scores despite a valiant effort from Adam Doueihi.
Enari Tuala now puts the ball down and the Tigers are celebrating.
Doueihi slots the extras.
Jarome Luai short to Samuela Fainu and this game is over!
It just isn't the Bulldogs' afternoon. Stephen Crichton picks up a loose ball and is away! He has Lachlan Galvin in support with Apisai Koroisau chasing and Crichton tries to give the ball over but Galvin hesitates, the ball hits the turf and spits into touch.
A cheap penalty now puts the Tigers on halfway with a full set to come.
Kurt Mann with an error as the Bulldogs entered attacking territory.
May showing category 1 symptoms and ruled out. Benji Marshall is reportedly fuming there was no sin bin.
Doueihi splits the posts.
Taylan May off for a head injury assessment.
Tigers will shoot for two.
Crichton just on report.
Taylan May slips in the tackle and Stephen Crichton is penalised. The right call but a tough one given the mitigating circumstances.
Jacob Kiraz drops the bomb in tough conditions. Tigers' ball 10 out.
The Tigers now earn a penalty after Bailey Hayward is called offside.
Stephen Crichton with a poor pass that is dived on in the pouring rain by Brent Naden and the Tigers survive!
The last tackle is going nowhere for the Bulldogs but they throw it around desperately and Matt Burton does well to force the dropout.
A horror minute for Seyfart6h who is now sent to the sin bin for a shoulder to the head of Samuel Hughes.
A penalty against the run of play now with Alex Seyfarth penalised for attacking the head of Max King in the tackle.
Jarome Luai with a brilliant grubber on the last and Viliame Kikau is forced to kick it dead.
A penalty against the Bulldogs now as Bailey Hayward is ruled not square at marker as he dived on the ball with no one at dummy-half for the Tigers.
Jahream Bula off for a head injury assessment.
Crichton sends it away to the left.
The Tigers are eventually made to pay for their errors as Kiraz goes over!
Fonua Pole now drops it. Bulldogs 20 out.
But a poor error as Josh Curran drops it 10 out.
Another penalty for a strip on Bronson Xerri. Full set coming close to the Tigers' line.
Now a relieving penalty to help the Bulldogs out of their own end.
Nothing comes of the set as Jarome Luai is wrapped up on the last.
Challenge unsuccessful. Tigers set 20 out.
Jarome Luai tries a third-tackle kick and Stephen Crichton plays at it and drops the ball. The Bulldogs challenge.
A penalty to the Tigers now for a late tackle from Reed Mahoney on Terrell May.
Adam Doueihi nearly kicks a 40/20 but Jacob Kiraz is able to save the day and then Matt Burton out of nothing splits the Tigers defence and is finally dragged down near the 20 but the ball spills out!
Onto the second half we go and the rain is still pouring. You'd think one more try should be enough to win it for the Tigers given how hard is should theoretically be to score points in these conditions. Although given the Tigers scored 20 in the first half maybe you can throw that out the window.
Viliame Kikau looked to have lost the ball there over the 20. It was either going to be a knock-on or penalty but the referee calls neither. Bizarre.
Crichton hits the upright.
Stephen Crichton short to Jacob Preston and the Bulldogs are on the board!
And another as Kurt Mann does what Cooper Cronk called for and runs hard and direct and almost goes through.
The Tigers had been testing the referee's patience a few times in the past couple of sets and now they're pinged mid-set for a six again.
Another chance for the Bulldogs. Fonua Pole drops the ball 15 out.
Cooper Cronk nails it in commentary. The Bulldogs' attack is out of sync and they just need to play more simple and direct in these conditions.
Doueihi splits the uprights.
Against the run of play! Are these boos every time Lachlan Galvin touches the ball putting the Dogs off? Matt Burton spills the Galvin pass, Doueihi picks it up and out-runs everyone to score!
Samuela Fainu drops it and finally the Bulldogs will have some strong field position and a chance to hit back. They have a full set 10 out coming up.
Off the post!
Apisai Koroisau with a deft grubber and the former Bulldog has a double!
Reed Mahoney now with an error. Both teams struggling to complete in tough conditions. Tigers 30 out.
Opportunity goes begging as Sione Fainu drops the ball on the fourth tackle.
Viliame Kikau tries to offload it but drops the ball. Tigers with a full set 40 out.
Big play Matt Burton. He hammers the dropout towards the sideline. Sunia Turuva tries to stop it but the ball spills off him into touch.
Adam Doueihi kicks on the second tackle for Jahream Bula and in these conditions the ball holds up for Jacob Kiraz who is tackled into the pads, the ball spills out and Enari Tuala is there to save the day. Dropout incoming though.
A chance now for the Bulldogs to hit back as they earn an early yardage penalty. But Max King drops the ball mid-set.
Doueihi sends this one left.
This is turning out to be an inspired selection from Benji Marshall, at least when it comes to winning this game. Adam Doueihi sets up another try as he splits the defence from dummy-half and puts Jahream Bula away!
Lachlan Galvin with a half-break as an opportunity opens up on the left edge but Brent Naden bring him down. Matt Burton on the last and he sends it to Jeral Skelton but the winger comes down with it.
Doueihi pilots it through from the sideline!
Adam Doueihi breaks a few tackles and then offloads to Jahream Bula, who finds Jeral Skelton and the winger takes the Bulldogs on and forces his way over.
A penalty against the run of play. Viliame Kikau out of the play and he then got involved. Tigers ball 40 out.
Both sides now back to trading sets and there is plenty of feeling in every tackle as Alex Twal puts a big shot on Bronson Xerri.
No points from this set as Jahream Bula flies above Jacob Kiraz to contest the last-tackle bomb but he drops it.
Jarome Luai almost makes a break and then earns a penalty for a dangerous tackle.
Jeral Skelton somewhat makes up for his error but coming down with the Matt Burton bomb on the last.
The Tigers have really stepped up defensively in this game but ill-discipline continues to put them under pressure. Jeral Skelton drops it just over halfway.
Lachlan Galvin with plenty of touches in that set. Perhaps should've gone out wide instead of short to Viliame Kikau when he was wrapped up well. Galvin then kicks on the last, it's a good one but the chase doesn't match and Jahream Bula watches it go dead... just.
Terrell May penalised and more cheap field position for the Dogs, who start this new set 40 out.
The ground is very wet and it is making it hard for the players to get many metres with their runs. The Bulldogs' attacking 20 area looks particularly bad. Lots of water.
The two combine there as Stephen Crichton pops a late pass for Jacob Kiraz who gets the flick out just as he is about to ground and Enari Tuala is over but the final pass was forward. A big pair of defensive sets from the Tigers.
An interesting note. While Jacob Kiraz has the No.1 on his back, in attacking it is Stephen Crichton at fullback with Kiraz at right centre.
Matt Burton is driving back nearly 20 metres on the third tackle as the Tigers aim up in defence. Bronson Xerri with a well-weighted grubber on the last to force a dropout.
The weather wreaking havoc again as Jarome Luai slips over and Stephen Crichton sees an opportunity to take the line on and slides over. But he looks to have come up just short and was the held up by Jahream Bula.
It is wet out there and in evidence of that Terrell May drops it on the first tackle! Bulldogs attacking 10 out.
Underway. Tigers with first use of it.
Good afternoon and welcome to League Unlimited's live blog from a wet CommBank Stadium. Kick-off in 10 minutes. The Bulldogs are 1-17 but there are multiple changes for the Tigers. Benji Marshall seems to be feeling the pressure, having dumped Latu Fainu to the halves for the more experienced Adam Doueihi. Elsewhere, Brent Naden is in for the injured Starford To'a while Sione Fainu starts at lock.
