The New Zealand Warriors have kept their spot in the NRL top 4 solid with a 32-12 win over the Gold Coast Titans at Robina in front of a crowd with more Warriors fans than Titans.
Looking to pull off another upset against the Warriors, things looked good for the hosts early when Tino Fa'asuamaleaui went over through some very soft defence and the Gold Coast opened up a 6-0 lead.
The Titans couldn't complete their set soon after points and put themselves under pressure and the Warriors took advantage when Marata Niukore went through soft defence keeping his hand off the ground to reach out and score. The scoreboard as if it looked as if it was going to be like a turnstile all night as the Warriors added two more tries in the first half when Roger Tuivasa-Sheck picked up a double.
Both occasions were too easy for the visitors as the Titans struggled to control the ball and then failed to number up in defence for RTS to slide through to score almost untouched both times and the scoreboard ticked up to 18-6.
Despite the high expectation of points after the frantic start, neither side could manage any points in the rest of the half. The Warriors added a penalty goal early in the second half but it was almost twenty minutes before another try was added to the board.
It came via a kick with Roger Tuivasa-Sheck chasing through outjumping the Titans before Chanel Harris-Tavita got the ball to Adam Pompey to score. The Warriors extended their lead out to 32-6 a few minutes later when Eddie Ieremia-Toeava going over under the posts for his first NRL try.
The Titans added two late consolation tries which would frustrate the Titans fans with how good their attack looked once the game was gone. Beau Fermor pulled out his best superman impression as he chased through a kick that looked as if he was half a second too late grounding the ball over the dead-ball line. However, on the slow motion replays, Fermor got it down just inside the line for a try.
Brian Kelly added another consolation try in the dying minutes to put some respectability on the scoreboard and Jayden Campbell converted to bring the score back to 32-18.
Next week, the Titans stay in Queensland for a clash with the Dolphins at Suncorp whilst for the Warriors head back to New Zealand for a clash against the Eels.
