Parramatta hasn't been a happy hunting ground for the Titans, but it was seventh time lucky for the Gold Coast following their 52-10 win over a very poor Eels squad.
Things didn't start well for Parramatta when Mitch Moses put his first kick of the game out on the full, but it took until the 10th minute for the first points when Arama Hau opened the scoring after it looked as if he missed a trick by not passing, but he kept the ball up and reached out to score.
Injuries might be hitting Parramatta hard this season and again in the contest. Still, it was just poor efforts from senior players that hurt, as the Titans were racing the clock. Keano Kini beat Mitch Moses with some obscene footwork, AJ Brimson scored, and then Kini did it again, going through the disjointed kick-chase and racing away to find Sialetili Faeamani, who scored.
The Titans had a big chance to go 24-0 as the line was wide open, but Chris Randall lost the ball, and momentum swung quickly as Parramatta went up the other end to score through Will Penisini. Ronald Volkman converted to bring back the score to 18-6.
It was a Gold Coast blitz to start the second half as Oliver Pascoe went from dummy half through some poor defence before linking with Jayden Campbell, who scored his first. Just two minutes later, Cooper Bai extended the Titans' lead when he charged over the line from close range.
The Eels looked to have stemmed the momentum when Joash Papali'I went over after some good work from debutant Araz Nanva, who took the catch and linked with Papali'I. The good play was undone when the bunker had to overturn the live try decision, with multiple Parramatta players offside on the kick, including Nanva.
Another error from the Eels turned the ball over as they put the ball down straight off the back of a penalty, and Phillip Sami scored. The Eels did hit back, and this one got the tick of approval by the bunker when Josh Addo-Carr took a good catch to score.
If Parramatta thought things were looking up, then they quickly went downhill again as the Titans put three tries inside the final 12 minutes to put a stamp on the game with an intercept to Jayden Campbell, a Phil Sami kick-chase,. Then Sialetili Faeamani scoring in the corner to seal the 52-10 win.
Next week, the Eels will deal with more injuries, with Sam Tuivaiti and Kelma Tuilagi both suffering Category 1 concussion symptoms as they prepare to play the Bulldogs, whilst the Titans head to New Zealand for a clash against the Warriors.
