Match Overview

It was an unhappy night for the South Sydney Rabbitohs, as they went down to the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles 46-8 at Allianz Stadium.

The Rabbitohs were shell-shocked from the opening of the game, starved of possession, and struggling to be effective with what little ball they did have.

The stats at the end of the game told the story, with South Sydney spending less than 15% of the game at the Sea Eagles' end of the field, making 120 more tackles, and running for 600 less metres.

But really, the game was over at half time. First half tries to Brenton Lawrence, Curtis Sironen, Jorge Taufua, Jake Trbojevic and a double to Akuila Uate saw the Sea Eagles lead 30-2 at the break, and the Rabbitohs never recovered.

While Akuila Uate lit up the scoreboard with another two tries in the second half, he was reaping the rewards of some great work by his inside men - namely Dylan Walker and Tom Trbojevic.

In the forwards Martin Taupau and and Jake Trbojevic did most of the damage, running for 200 and 150 metres respectively, as well as offloading seemingly at will.

It's hard to find a positive for the South Sydney side, who were severely outgunned in all aspects of the game.

After the rep round the Eagles are off to Suncorp as one of the 'hosts' of a double header against hometown team Brisbane, while the Rabbitohs will be hoping to reverse their crumbling season when they face the Wests Tigers at ANZ Stadium.

3. Dylan Walker

Threw a bunch of amazing offloads, was heavily involved in attack, and was one half of the Sea Eagles' devastating right edge.

2. Martin Taupau

Immense work rate and impact all game. Unlucky not to pick up tries.

1. Akuila Uate

Can't leave a bloke out who scores four tries, even if they were all gifted to him...
