The Roosters lose JWH, which brings Angus Crichton into the starting side at lock and Isaac Liu to the front row. Mitch Aubusson returns on the bench.

Newcastle meanwhile cut Phoenix Crossland and Brodie Jones from the bench, with Sione Mata'utia returning and Chris Randall also selected. Herman Ese'ese drops to the bench with Daniel Saifiti starting and his brother Jacob moving to lock.
