32-year-old Hull KR player Brad Takairangi has been stood down by the club pending a police investigation.
Takairangi was arrested in Hull over the weekend, with reports suggesting he is alleged to have been drink-driving.
On January 3rd, the Rovers released a statement confirming he was being investigated:
"Hull KR have been made aware by the player and his legal representative of allegations brought against him by Humberside police.
The matter is under review by the club and will be dealt with internally.
There will be no further comment at this stage from the club or player."
It comes ahead of the start of Takairangi's second season in the Super League. He played 178 NRLÂ games across three clubs - the Roosters, Titans and Eels - between 2010 and 2020.
He also played internationals for Cook Islands and New Zealand and represented the Maori All Stars in 2019 and 2020.
