The Warrington Wolves have maintained their perfect start to the new Super League season trouncing the Castleford Tigers 34-10.
It was an ominous start from the visitors who had the first attacking opportunity, but the final pass was intercepted by Matty Ashton who raced the best part of 95 meters to score the opening points for the home side. Ten minutes later, the halves combination of Williams and Widdop combined to place the former Raiders halfback over the line and extend the scoreline out to two converted tries.
Moments later, Castleford thought they cut the deficit in half, but Kenny Edwards was guilty of a double movement according to the referee. Widdop tried a field goal at half-time but the shot found the upright and the Tigers went into the sheds down 12-0.
Castleford started the second half with all the early running and were quickly rewarded when a well worked set play between Trueman and Evalds saw Derrell Olpherts cross the stripe in the corner. Warrington bounced back almost immediately when Josh Charnley stepped inside multiple Tigers defenders to crash over the line for his 250th career try and extend the margin to 16-4.
George Williams put prop forward Robbie Mulhern through a yawning gap to extend the margin out to 22-4. Any chance of a comeback was quickly extinguished when Castleford went for adventurous play inside their own end which saw Peter Mata'utia kick the loose ball ahead and put the margin out to four converted tries. Castleford grabbed a consolation try through halfback Jacob Trueman to install scoreboard credibility, but Josh Charnley grabbed his double in the closing stages to allow Warrington to come out convincing winners 34-10.

Jai Field has continued his flawless start to the new season nabbing a hattrick in his side's 34-12 win over the Leeds Rhinos.
It was the visitors who scored the game's opening points when Blake Austin fooled the Wigan defence to stroll over the line inside the opening 15 minutes for an early 6-0 lead. Jai Field saved the Warriors from going further behind, performing a perfect cover tackle on winger Liam Tindall.
Off the ensuing weight of possession and controversial circumstances, Cade Cust tried to find Jake Bibby with a short ball, and it looked the centre had knocked on before Field picked up the loose ball to score, with video referee Ben Thaler adjudicating the ball had come off Bibby's foot and the game was back at 6-6. Field blitzed the Rhinos' defence right on half-time to give the Warriors a well-deserved 12-6 advantage.
Wigan went on an early scoring frenzy straight after the break. It began with a frantic final tackle play which went through 7 pairs of hands before being grubber kicked, Sam Powell won the race to the ball and Wigan extended their margin. It proved to be the turning point, as off the ensuing set, Jai Field took a lovely ball from Patrick Mago and Field raced 80 meters to seal his hat-trick.
Wigan then made it three tries in 10 second-half minutes in a very bizarre incident. It looked like Jack Walker had grounded the ball in goal to concede a goal-line drop-out, but the decision was sent upstairs, and Ben Thaler ruled that Walker lost the ball and Powell grounded it for his second of the night. Leeds managed to pull one back through Matt Prior, but Wigan had the last laugh as Farrell secured his double following great work from Cust.
Wigan secures their second win on the young season as they look to match St Helens and Catalans as the bench-marks this season.

Luke Gale is in for a long stint on the sidelines after being shown a red card in the first half for leading with his boot on Saints halfback Johnny Lomax. This ugly incident overshadowed another convincing performance from St Helens who are off to yet another flawless start to the new campaign thrashing Hull 38-6 in trying conditions at the KC Stadium.
After a tense opening to the game in which both sides went end to end to overpower each other, it was St Helens who took first blood. A well-worked set play down the left-hand side saw Mark Percival breakthrough a few would-be tacklers to cross for the game's opening try and his 100th for St Helens. A foul play crackdown has been the talk of the Super League over the opening rounds. Hull's Connor Wynne was the first to cry foul of referee Chris Kendall who was given a yellow card for an incurious spear tackle on Saints' Jack Welsby, which saw the Saints pot over a penalty goal to lead 8-0. Wynne's absence was the game's first turning point, which allowed St Helens to cross moments later off a well-timed scrum play through Josh Simm. Makinson converted from touch to put the scoreboard out to 14-0.
Off the next set, Luke Gale came up with arguably the dumbest play of the season, as he lifted his boot to make direct contact with the kicking leg of Johnny Lomax and was subsequently sent from the field by referee Kendall. The dagger came moments before half-time as Simm crossed over for his second try and the visitors had a commanding 20 point advantage.
After a tight opening to the second 40 minutes, Jack Welsby put in a lovely grubber which he chased himself and collected his first of the afternoon and a handy 26 point advantage. St Helens let a midfield bomb bounce which saw Josh Griffin fly through and collect a well-deserved try for Hull. Lewis Dodd and Sione Mata'utia crossed for late tries to rub salt in the wound for Hull who was gallant in defeat after the early dismissal of Gale.

The Huddersfield Giants continue their flying start to the season downing Hull Kingston Rovers 26-12 at John Smith Stadium. Storm Eunice meant attacking, free-flowing football was off the menu, but both sides played a committed style of football that both sets of fans should appreciate.
After a tight opening 15 minutes, it was a Theo Fages bomb that Ryan Hall failed to come down with and a great ball from Leroy Cudjoe saw Chris McQueen come down with the opening points. 15 minutes later, Danny Levi teamed up with former team-mate Luke Yates to cross the stripe for the Giants' second try of the contest and with Oliver Russell's conversion, they led by two converted tries.
Off the ensuing set, a well-worked set play saw Josh Jones fool the Rovers' defence and the Giants were thinking of putting a cricket score on the sorry Rovers. Huddersfield had a commanding 16-0 half-time advantage. Huddersfield continued their rampage right after half-time when Jermaine McGillvary dived on a loose ball after a well-weighted grubber kick from Fages.
Rovers were able to work themselves back into the game thanks to a perfect grubber kick from Jordan Abdull and Brad Takarangi was on the spot to cross and with Abull's conversion, the Rovers' comeback began. A poor Danny Levi pass was toed ahead by Mikey Lewis and Lewis won the race to the ball and brought the score to within two possessions, Chris Hill was sin-binned for deliberately delaying the conversion from Abdull.
A brave Rovers comeback was all but wiped out when Chris McQueen burrowed his way over the line for his second try after a good ball from Tui Lolohea to make the score-line 26-12 and seal back to back wins to kick off the new season.

Catalans have survived a late scare from Wakefield Trinity to hang on for a tough 24-22 victory.
Last season's minor premiers were keen to turn around a poor performance on Opening Night and they started this match breathing fire. After Sam Tomkins was denied in the opening two minutes, Catalans struck first blood through winger Mathieu Laguerre who finished off a lovely backline play.
Five minutes later, a lovely cut out ball from Josh Drinkwater found his other winger Fouad Yaha to cross for his side's second of the afternoon and put the Dragons up 10-0. Wakefield worked their way into the contest and just over 10 minutes later, they were rewarded thanks to a lovely cross-field chip kick from Harry Bowes which landed in the arms of Tom Johnstone to cross for the first of his two tries.
Samisoni Langi responded moments later for the Dragons to give them a 16-6 lead. But Wakefield shocked everyone at Stade Gilbert Brutus with a late try at half-time through fullback Max Jowitt and the Wildcats were only within a converted try.
Catalans responded immediately after the break after a lovely Sam Kasiano offload found Ben Garcia to give the home side a 22-10 advantage. Tomkins potted over a penalty goal just past the hour mark to give the home side a three-possession lead. That penalty goal proved decisive in the final analysis. With under five minutes to go, the Wildcats crossed twice and kicked their two conversions, but were still two points short. Wakefield can take a lot from this game and if they play for the full 80 minutes, the wins will keep on coming.

Toulouse Olympique continues their tough initiation into first division rugby league going down 38-12 against the Salford Red Devils.
It was a rough start for the new boys, Ken Sio crossed for the first of his four tries inside the first two minutes after winning the race to a Marc Sneyd grubber kick. Barely ten minutes later, Sio grabbed his second after a line break from new buy Brodie Croft, he was ruled to have kicked ahead and Sio was there on the spot to grab his second try and an early 8-0 lead.
Seven minutes later, a shift to the left saw Joe Burgess find space before linking up with Ryan Brierley and the Red Devils had a 14-0 lead. Six minutes later, the onslaught continued when Sneyd threw a dummy and went straight past some poor defence and the margin was quickly 20-0.
Toulouse did grab a try right on half-time when Joesph Paulo placed boot to ball and Chris Hankinson won the race for the ball and cut the margin to 14 points. Paulo was rewarded right after the break chasing a grubber kick and Toulouse got the game back to 20-12. Unfortunately, that would be the last of Olympique's scoring.
After a bomb that went sixes and sevens, Tim Lafai was in the right place at the right time to secure the ball and run the remaining ten meters to score. Sio secured his hattrick after soccer grubbing the initial Sneyd grubber and winning the race to the football. The fourth try for Sio came inside the final five minutes when he caught a mistimed cross-field kick and ran 90 meters to score and finalise the score-line at 38-12.
