Huddersfield have put aside their Challenge Cup final heartache by defeating top side Catalans 22-14 in a giant upset.
Huddersfield set the tone for the match with an impressive opening 40 which saw them put three tries by a shell-shocked Dragons side. The ambush started in just the fourth minute of play when Ricky Leutele crossed after breaking through some ordinary edge defence. Will Pryce atoned for the missed conversion by nailing a penalty goal to get out to a converted try lead.
Just past the halfway mark in the opening half, Adam O'Brien raced away through some of the worst defence Catalans have produced this season to put the margin out to twelve. If you thought the defensive resilience couldn't get any worse, then you should've seen the last try before the break, the French side capitulated when Jack Cogger's long break before linking up with Chris McQueen to extend the margin to 18.
To avoid a first half shutout, Sam Tomkins potted over a penalty goal to reduce the margin to 16 at the change of ends. It appeared that the strategy would pay off when Catalans scored first after the break when Arthur Mourgue crossed stepping his way past some wayward defenders to reduce the gap to ten.
The locals thought the comeback was on when Mathieu Laguerre crossed and reduced the margin to four. Unfortunately, Catalans were unable to find the killer instinct and complete the comeback before the French side conceded a late try from McQueen which put the icing on the cake of a solid upset victory from Huddersfield.

Rohan Smith is finally having the desired impact at Leeds with his side completing a 40-4 slaughter of the Warrington Wolves.
Well, it was Leeds that capitalised on Warrington's inability to convert at the other end when David Fusitua crossed after seven minutes for the first of his two tries. A mini revival was staged by the Wolves when Matty Ashton crossed after 25 minutes to give the Wolves some hope at 4-4.
Any hope was blown away by a scintillating attacking display from the Rhinos which saw them place three tries in the space of five minutes. Kruise Leeming crossed first off the back of a break by Zak Hardaker.
Hardaker crossed for one of his own two minutes later as he stepped his way past some paper-thin defence to make the margin 16-4. To cap off the blitzkrieg raid, James Donaldson crossed after fullback Hardaker took a great bomb to lead 22-4 at the break.
The second lightning raid of tries came after a defensive slugfest to begin the second half. The points raid began when Ash Handley crossed in the sixty-sixth minute following an easy scrum play. Two minutes later, Bodene Thompson crossed following soft marker defence before Fusitua and Handley each completed their doubles and Leeds finished with a 36 point thumping.

Wigan appeared to have a Challenge Cup hang-over after a slow opening half, but quickly rebounded to defeat Castleford 32-12.
It was a fast start by the home side when Greg Eden crossed inside the opening ten minutes when he was on the receiving end of a lovely cut out pass from Jacob Trueman and the Tigers led 6-0. The home sides' lead was doubled just passed the midway point when Ken Edwards crossed for a great individual try when he broke the line, fended off his old Parramatta teammate Bevan French and raced away to put the Tigers up 12-0.
Wigan would have the final say going into the break when Liam Marshall crossed for the first of his two tries when Mahe Fonua was sin binned for kicking Liam Farrell. Marshall crossed when French provided the lovely pass for his 100###sup
try in his career.###>
Wigan would utterly dominate the second half. The domination began just three minutes in when French crossed following a Marshall grubber. The visitors would take the lead when Abbas Miski crossed off the back of a sweeping backline play.
Marshall would add his second to put the game out of reach for the Tigers before two late tries to Jake Bibby and Farrell rubbed salt into the wound for the hometown supporters, although Wigan's slow start is a point of concern.

St Helens came to France to conquer a side that defeated them earlier in the season and achieved their mission downing Toulouse 28-14. The performance was nowhere near convincing, but a win is a win to stay at the top of the ladder.
Toulouse opened the scoring through a penalty goal to Chris Hankinson, but it would be their only scoring of the opening half. It was the visitors who crossed for the first try when Morgan Knowles crossed after running through a yawning gap up the middle of Toulouse's defence.
Just before the half-way mark of the opening half, Tommy Makinson crossed off a clever backline raid. Seven minutes from half-time, big Konrad Hurrell who's been the subject of a return to the NRL in recent weeks crossed for the Saints off an intercept to extend the margin to twelve at the break.
Olympique crossed first after the break when Harrison Hansen scored following a great short ball to cross for the home side and they were sniffing a second big upset only down by eight.
Any hope of a comeback was short lived when two quick tries to Jack Welsby and Regan Grace blew away any chance of a second upset by the newcomers to Super League.
A late try to Hankinson provided some score-board credibility, but once again the newcomers were coming agonisingly short but not securing the big victory they need to mount a late season charge.

An individual masterclass from Rovers fullback Lachlan Coote which saw him score 21 of his sides 43 points has guided Hull KR to a convincing 43-16 victory over Salford.
It was Coote that got the Rovers in a fast and furious mood in the early stages, scoring two tries in the space of two minutes. The first came after outleaping Ken Sio to secure the ball and score, two minutes later it was a bust from Matt Parcell which found Coote to give his side a 12-0 lead.
Ryan Hall crossed on 22 minutes following a well worked set play and the score was already 18-0. Salford did hit back five minutes later when Kallum Watkins crossed in dubious circumstances to give his side some hope. Unfortunately, the comeback was on for about as long as Richie Mathers' stint in the NRL (yep, not long). Coote knocked over a field goal on half-time to put the game seemingly beyond doubt.
We were back to normal transmission not long after the resumption when Hall crossed for his second following a half-break from Shaun Kenny-Dowall and the rangy Kiwi centre found his winger to cross. Ethan Ryan crossed just after the hour mark to put the margin out to 25. That wasn't enough for the Rovers as Ben Crooks added a late double. Consolation tries for Deon Cross and Joe Burgess were only good enough for score-board credibility as Hull KR dominated this match in every facet.

They left it late, but Wakefield reversed an 18-12 deficit in the last five minutes to seal an upset over Hull FC and get another win closer from relegation.
It was a dynamic start by Hull when Adam Swift crossed inside the opening ten minutes following a lovely rainbow ball from Jake Connor and Hull had an early 6-0 cushion.
Hull doubled their advantage ten minutes before half-time when Darnell McIntosh crossed where Connor again turned provider with a lovely cut-out ball and the game was firmly in their control. Gale added a penalty goal to extend the margin to 14.
Wakefield were on the board just before the break when Matty Ashurst received a lovely short ball from Jacob Miller and the backrower slid over to score and cut the gap to eight. The margin was extended to twelve on half-time when Swift crossed for his double.
It was a tight second half which saw both sides struggle for ascendency, but it would be Willie Poaching's Wildcats that scored the only points in the second half. It began with a try to Corey Hall off the back of a spilt bomb from McIntosh which was scooped up by Hall and the game was well and truly on.
A late try to Lee Gaskell off a sweeping pass from Mason Lino saw the game on the line. Lino's conversion saw the scores tied heading into the final few moments. Enter Jacob Miller, the Aussie halfback nailed the field goal under heavy pressure to seal the upset win for the Wildcats, and more importantly rise to 10 points, which is equal with Salford and Warrington.
