A furious late flurry of points saw St Helens triumph 20-18 against Wigan Warriors in Game 2 of Saturday on Magic Weekend.
League leaders St Helens were the first to hit the scoreboard due to a penalty goal from Jon Bennison in the sixth minute. From there Wigan Warriors took the game by the scruff of the neck.
Bevan French got the first four-pointer of the contest when a wonderful cut-out pass from fullback Jai Field saw him touch down. The Warriors were denied a second try on the break after Sam Powell was offside.
Wigan did extend their lead three minutes after the breakthrough John Bateman. He was on the end of the assist from French as the Warriors stretched the advantage to 12-2.
Looking to keep their advantage over the field, St Helens sprung to life. Joe Batchelor started off the scoring quickly followed by Jack Welsby's four-pointer put the Saints within two.
Saints did find the leveler through another Bennison penalty goal after a red card to Wigan's Brad Singleton but Wigan fought back with French's second try to wrestle back the lead.

Huddersfield Giants moved into third spot with their 30-18 win against Salford Red Devils to kick off Day 2 of Magic Weekend.
In the bright sunshine in Newcastle, Huddersfield were the early bird that got the worm and lead 24-6 at the break and were on course to consolidate their spot in the top four.

Warrington Wolves produced a stunning upset in their 36-10 win over Catalans Dragons on Day 2 of Magic Weekend Sunday.
The Wolves started off with a bang when five-eighth Gareth Widdop crawled over for the first score before he was assisted from the field with a dislocated shoulder injury.
Catalans Dragons struck back with their first real attack of the contest when Samisoni Langi sensed some space at marker and drove over the try line to make it 6-4.
Wolves belied their position in the Super League competition and energised by new signing Jake Wardle who pounced on a loose ball to put them in the lead.
It was another debutant that added the Wolves next score in Matthew Nicholson to barge over then Stefan Ratchford was inch perfect to touch down a kick and gave them a 24-6 lead at the break.

There was a brief thought of a comeback when English international Sam Tomkins just sliced through some feeble defence for Catalans to make it 30-10.
That thought was extinguished six minutes from time when George Williams was on the spot for an offload and took it the rest of the way for back-to-back tries in Magic Weekends and a Wolves win.
