Hull FC won back-to-back games after their 14-10 triumph over Wigan Warriors at MKM Stadium on Thursday night.
Coming off their huge win over Huddersfield, the hosts were keen to build on that against one of the top teams in Super League and struck first.
It was a smart kick from Jake Clifford which fell right into the path of winger Darnell McIntosh who brushed off a defender and slammed it down.
The second Hull FC score came from pure grit. Josh Griffin got the legs pumping for a quick play-the-ball then Clifford snuck between the defense to make it 12-0.
Clifford continued his strong start with two points from the boot. An offside offered the opportunity and he raised the flags to stretch the advantage.
Wigan did strike back to get on the board. McIntosh wasn't able to snatch the intercept and from the resulted scrum, Iain Thornley dived over in the corner.
The Warriors got back within four with an identical play to their first four-pointer. Another back line movement to the left saw Thornley make it a double for 14-10.
We were set for a grandstand finish. Jake Trueman was sin binned for a professional foul from a dropped bomb which gave Wigan a chance.
Wigan tried to go the powerplay close to the line and dropped the ball which sparked huge celebrations from the Hull FC players.
