A dominant display from Jack Welsby has seen St Helens blitz rivals Wigan to win 34-16 at home.
The home side got the party started early when England international Joe Batchelor crossed after collecting a Welsby offload to score and an early 6-0 lead. Ill discipline cost Saints in the next passage of play as Wigan hit back when Jai Field beat everyone to the loose ball to lock the game up at 6-6.
Tommy Makinson missed a gift two points but atoned for his mistake by collecting a lovely cut-out pass from Welsby and racing away down the sideline to score. Makinson even rediscovered his kicking boots to extend beyond a converted try. Welsby showed he was human when he spilled a Bevan French kick which allowed the fullback to score for the Warriors. He got his revenge with a brilliant chip of his own for a try, this saw the score at 18-10 as both sides headed to the sheds.
Saints showed their championship qualities in the second half. Eight minutes in, Agnatius Paasi extended Saints' lead when he crashed over to score. James Roby showed age is just a number with a brilliant run, he linked up with Welsby to score and put the game beyond doubt for the three time champs. Welsby's delivered a brilliant pass that sent Makinson over in the corner for his second of the night. Abbas Miski grabbed a late consolation for Wigan for a 34-16 verdict on a night where Jack Welsby continued to shine.

The Leigh Leopards have continued a great first season back in the top-flight with a 28-16 victory over Hull FC at home.
The home side continued to play some enterprising football and were rewarded with first points. Gareth O'Brien was on the end of a lovely set play which saw him beat the Hull cover and it was 6-0 early in the contest. Zak Hardaker opted to take a penalty goal to extend the margin to 8.
Four minutes later, Tom Briscoe finished off a well worked scrum play and Leigh were out to an imposing 12-0 lead early. But, the black and whites hung in deep and were rewarded with a try of their own. A lovely left side play puts Liam Sutcliffe into a gap and the centre finds Adam Swift to score, this saw the margin reduce to 8.
The resistance was minimal as leading try scorer Josh Charnley crossed out wide to extend the margin back out to 12 points for the Leopards, but it was again short lived. A short kickoff worked for Hull and it was Darnell McIntosh who crossed out wide and it was 16-10 at the break. Jake Clifford had to be assessed and failed to pass his HIA for the visitors making their task difficult.
Hardaker added another two points eight minutes into the second half for an 18-10 lead before Charnley continued his try scoring spree with another try off a set play. Hull weren't going away and despite missing their star half they were coming home with a wet sail. A great pass from Jake Trueman sent Josh Griffin over to score and it was a 6 point game. However, a late Joe Mellor try sealed the match for the home side.

Salford have strung together three consecutive league victories after an impressive 42-10 demolition over the Castleford Tigers at the Jungle.
The Red Devils crossed just after the 10 minute mark when Rhys Williams was able to get over for the first of his two tries. Not to be outdone, the Tigers hit back out wide when Jason Qareqare scooped onto an intercept and the game was anyone's early.
A clever Salford bomb caused problems at the back for the Tigers and after some quick hands, Chris Atkin was on the end of it to score. A few minutes later, it was the same old story. Brodie Croft got a lovely pass to Deon Cross who raced away to add more salt to the Tigers wound.
Ken Sio finished off another neat back-line play and it was 24-4 in the shadows of the break. Cas did respond when Ken Edwards crossed before the break, however their supporters would have little to cheer for in the second half.
Williams finished off his double five minutes after the resumption after a lovely Tim Lafai offload. The party was continuing when Sio latched onto another intercept racing the best part of 40 metres to score for the Red Devils. Lafai was able to cross for his own try when Williams flicked it back on the inside before Sam Stone capped off a great game with a try nine minutes from time leaving Castleford way behind in the semi-final race. While for Salford, they went joint top of the table.

Warrington Wolves (30)
Tries: Sam Kasiano, George Williams, Danny Walker, Matt Dufty, Josh Thewlis

Huddersfield Giants (26)
Tries: Leroy Cudjoe, Kevin Naiqama, Théo Fages, Tui Lolohea, Jake Bibby
Goals: Oliver Russell 3/5

Huddersfield: Pryce, Senior, Marsters, Naiqama, Bibby; Russell, Fages; Hill, Peats, Wilson, Cudjoe, McQueen, Yates. Int: Milner, Ikahihifo, Rushton, Lolohea.
The Warrington Wolves have bounced back after an indifferent run of form to defeat the Huddersfield Giants by 30-26 back on home soil.
The home side kicked off the scoring in the fourth minute of play when big Sam Kasiano crashed over for an early lead. This was quickly countered seven minutes later when Jake Bibby finished off great lead up work to reduce the gap for the visitors to two points. Two quick Wire tries seemed to put the game away from the visitors.
Firstly, Josh Thewlis ran the length of the field to extend the gap beyond a single possession. This was added to by George Williams and at 18-4, the Giants were up against it. However, a lazy Wire error gave the Giants some much needed possession to cross. Leroy Cudjoe got his way through the defence and the gap was only 8 at the break.
However, a chance to reduce the gap further went away and from the scrum win, Danny Walker raced away. This put Warrington back up 14 points. It should've been more but the video ref snuffed out a Wire cry of a try. The Giants put two quick tries on through Kevin Naiqama and Theo Fages and what was looking comfortable for the Wire, was looking rather shaky.
Warrington put the game to bed inside the final quarter and it was Matt Dufty who capitalised sealing victory off a Giants mistake. The away side still managed to keep the home side on the edge of their seats with a late try to Tui Lolohea but it was in vein.

Catalans Dragons (38)
Tries: Matt Whitley 2, Mike McMeeken, Tom Johnstone, Tyrone May, Arthur Mourgue
Goals: Arthur Mourgue 6/7, Adam Keighran 1/1
Hull Kingston Rovers (4)
Tries: Corey Hall

Hull KR: Walker, Wood, Hall, Kenny-Dowall, Hall; Lewis, Abdull; Kennedy, Parcell, King, Johnson, Linnett, Minchella. Int: Litten, Storton, Luckley, Aydin.
The Catalans Dragons have won three on the trot with a 38-4 thrashing of Hull Kingston Rovers at home.
A penalty goal in the 16th minute of play from Arthur Mourgue was a welcome relief for both sides battling through an oppressive 30 degree day in the South of France. The Dragons added to that penalty goal with a try 9 minutes later when Matt Whitby raced away to score. Five minutes later, Tyrone May powered his way through to the line and it was 12-0.
The home side were disadvantaged when Julian Bosquet was sin-binned. However, it did not stop Whitley scoring his second just before the interval, picking up a clever grubber kick from Mitch Pearce. Adam Keighran nailed a penalty goal from 50m out and it was 20-0 at the change of ends.
Rovers defence was abysmal and it was on full display as the second half began to open up. Mike McMeekan wrestled his way over the line to score, Mourgue adding the conversion to put the Dragons 26-0 ahead. Despite another sin-binning (Mickael Goudemand for time wasting), the home side continued dominating with Tom Johnstone finishing off Whitely's good lead-up work and Morugue crossing for a 38-0 score-line. A late run-away effort from Ryan Hall at least gave Rovers some scoreboard credibility.

Tries: Mat Ashurst, Morgan Smith, Jack Croft, Romain Franco

Leeds Rhinos (14)
Tries: Blake Austin, Cameron Smith, Leon Ruan
Goals: Rhyse Martin 1/3

Leeds: Handley, Macdonald, Roberts, Martin, Tindall; Austin, Myler; Oledzki, O'Connor, Walters, McDonnell, Bentley, Smith. Int: Sangaré, Donaldson, Johnson, Ruan.
Wakefield have overcome their recent history and the sending off of debutant Hugo Salabio to upset the Leeds Rhinos to win their first match of the season.
The Wildcats crossed for the first try inside the opening quarter of the match when Will Dagger's wayward kick was tapped back into play by Lee Kershaw and Jack Croft gathered to go over for the early lead. Off the next set following a howler from Nene MacDonald. Wakefield extended their lead when Max Jowitt spun the ball right and Romain Franco crossed for his first in Trinity colours.
However, Leeds hit back with two quick tries to level the scores. Richie Myler split the tiring defence before finding Cam Smith to score for the Rhinos. A 40/20 from Blake Austin again allowed Myler to do his thing in the attacking phase to find Leon Ruan to tie the game up.
Salabio was dismissed by the referee for a spear tackle whilst in possession. The debutant tried to fend away a Leeds defender but flipped him into a dangerous position and was promptly given a red card. However, the Wildcats dug deep and kicked ahead to a lead from Dagger's boot after a failed short dropout.
However, Austin was able to conduct the Wildcats on a string and found Rhyse Martin to put Leeds in front by 2. More ill discipline from the visitors gave Dagger another two points and it was 14-14 heading into the crunch period. Leeds imploded when Ash Handley was sin-binned for a professional foul.
Leeds were breaking down, as Ashurst crashed through to wrestle back the momentum and within three minutes Myler's dropped kick let in another try as Morgan Smith was able to lunge over the line. Dagger's second successful conversion pinging in off the post to put Wakefield 24-14 in front and a historic first win of the season.
