Red Devils boost top six hopes against Giants

Salford Red Devils triumphed 32-8 against Huddersfield Giants down at John Smith's Stadium on Friday night.

The Giants had the perfect start with Jake Bibby picking up the scraps from a grubber close to the line to make it 6-0.

That spurred the Red Devils into action which saw Ryan Brierley go over. The fullback steamed onto a short pass to level things up.

Huddersfield Giants edged ahead 8-6 after a high tackle penalty. Oliver Russell stepped up and piloted home the kick for the home faithful.

Sam Stone gave the Red Devils the lead before half-time with his gliding run then helped the visitors extend the advantage with his second four-pointer in the second stanza to make it 18-8.

Salford Red Devils pushed their advantage further with Ken Sio touching down on the hour mark then Chris Atkins rounded off the display late on.

Saints march past Robins in comfortable display

St Helens won 28-6 in an impressive display against Challenge Cup finalists Hull KR at Totally Wicked Stadium on Friday night.

The Saints continue their surge to the top of the Super League ladder and after the win sit equal second with rivals Wigan Warriors.

It was a Challenge Cup comedown for Hul KR. After their extra time defeat, their attention turned back to the league and making the top six.

The first half was a robust battle between the two sides. Saints were the only team to find the whitewash through Peter Mata'utia after an earlier Mark Percival penalty goal.

St Helens powered home their advantage after the break. They scored three tries in 15 minutes to blow open the contest.

Winger Tommy Makinson grabbed himself a double alongside a score from mid-season signing Moses Mbye to make it 22-0.

Percival added a second penalty goal to stretch the advantage then Ben Davies added the final touch with his late four-pointer.

Hull KR didn't fire many shots but their only try was well worked. It was worked on the right before a kick infield which saw Mikey Lewis touch down.

Warriors down Hull FC in a golden point thriller

Wigan Warriors won 13-12 over Hull FC in Golden Point in their game down at the DW Stadium on Friday night.

Hull FC looked to build off their huge win against Wakefield Trinity and boost their hopes for making the top six.

The visitors were the first side to hit the scoreboard. They received a penalty which was duly converted by Liam Sutcliffe to make it 2-0.

Wigan responded through the air. Liam Marshall was unable to take the kick on the first chance but made no mistake on the second time of asking to make it 4-2.

It seemed like the kick was the order of the day. A kick from Hull FC ended with Adam Swift scoring on half-time to give the visitors the lead.

Hull FC went to the well again and it was a rare score for Brad Dwyer. He cleaned up a kick which bounced around to make it 12-4.

The Warriors had back-to-back scores in the final 20 minutes to send us to golden point. Toby King crashed over before Jake Wardle touched down after Carlos Tuimavave was binned.

It took until the final minutes of Golden Point before Harry Smith delivered the killer blow to give Wigan Warriors an important two points.

Tigers take spoils in relegation dogfight against Trinity

Castleford Tigers helped their survival hopes with a 28-12 win over Wakefield Trinity at Belle Vue on Friday night.

The Tigers pounced first from a high kick. It was batted right into the hands of Charbel Tasipale to get himself a rare four-pointer.

Wakefield Trinity struck back with back-to-back tries to snatch the lead. Max Jowitt sliced through first then Josh Griffin crashed over from close range to make it 8-6.

Castleford Tigers delivered a double blow late in the first half to lead 16-8. Winger Greg Eden dived over twice which sent the traveling support into raptures.

The Tigers added to their advantage from Elliot Walis' kick return. It ended up with Alex Foster finishing off the move in the left corner.

The hosts got themselves back into the game with their third try. Griffin picked up his second after he crossed from a superb backline move for 22-12.

Eden completed his hat-trick to confirm the Tigers win with his 150###sup

four-pointer. Gareth Widdop also added a penalty goal after a late hit to round off the scoring.

Leaders Catalans prevail in wild game against Leigh

Catalans Dragons downed Challenge Cup winners Leigh Leopards 30-14 at Leigh Sports Village on Saturday afternoon.

Buoyed by their win Leigh Leopards started fast. Ben Reynolds piloted over a penalty goal after Tom Amone was hit late then Amone dusted himself off for the first four-pointer for 8-0.

The Dragons responded with back-to-back tries to take the lead despite being a man down. Mitch Pearce danced through the defense then he laid on the second for Paul Seguier.

Leigh would take the lead going into the break after Michael McIlorum was the second Dragons player to be binned. Ben Nakubuwai crashed over from close range for 14-12.

Catalans regrouped in the second half and piled on the points. They had an earlier effort chalked off before Tom Davies touched down off a grubber.

Next, it was another solo effort from the Dragons. Tyrone May stepped past the defense to score close to the sticks to make it 24-14.

Pearce capped off a terrific display from the league ladders with another try assist. He punched through a kick which saw Manu Ma'u cross.

Rhinos beat Wolves in Sunday afternoon thriller

Leeds Rhinos triumphed 24-22 in their game against Warrington Wolves at Headingley Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Wolves were the first team to get on the scoreboard. Matt Dufty produced a nifty solo work to kick and chase to the line.

Both sides traded tries after the tight opening to the game. Sam Walters put Leeds ahead before Matty Ashton answered back for the visitors to give them a 12-6 lead.

They maintained this nip tuck nature after the break. Prolific winger David Fusitu'a leapt highest for the Rhinos then Stefan Ratchford sliced through for the Wolves.

Leeds Rhinos broke the tug of work with a pair of tries to make it 24-16. Luke Hooley strode away from a Blake Austin break then James Bentley picked up the scraps for his four-pointer.

Warrington Wolves gave the contest a grandstand finish when Matty Nicholson latched onto a kick for 24-22. The Wolves went inches from a win after Dufty couldn't corral a Ratchford kick on the hooter.

This might be a sliding doors moment for the two sides. Leeds Rhinos snapped their losing streak and get back in the top six hunt while Warrington Wolves had their loss streak extend to seven.
