Dragons beat Saints to make Grand Final

Catalans Dragons won 12-6 in an intense semi-final against St Helens at Stade Gilbert Brutus on Friday night.

The Dragons have made their second Grand Final in the club's history and look to secure another trophy for their cabinet.

Some congratulations for St Helens. They won't be challenging for a fourth straight title but the Saints have been the dominant team in Super League in recent years.

Points were at a premium in this contest. There were only 18 points scored with 16 of them coming in the second half.

Catalans had a chance to open the scoring through Tom Johnstone. It went to the video and was chalked off due to a push from the winger.

The hosts did get the first points on the half hour mark. Sam Tomkins was hit high twice which allowed Adam Keighran to pilot home the penalty for 2-0.

Coming out of the break, St Helens felt just fine. Jack Welsby drifted across the field and found Will Hopoate to slice through for the first four-pointer.

While they weren't finding the try line, Catalans were perfect from the tee. Keighran raised the flag with a pair of penalty goals to make it 6-all.

Morgan Knowles was pinged for the infraction and was binned for a professional foul which left the Saints a player down for the final ten minutes of regulation.

Cometh the hour, cometh the man. Tomkins was set for a field goal, got rushed then slalomed through the Saints defense to win the game.

That dramatic winner ends St Helens 1,455-day reign as Super League champions and their hopes for a four peat this season.

Warriors romp past Hull KR

Wigan Warriors won 42-12 against Hull KR in their semi-final game at the DW Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Warriors are back into the big dance after a two-year absence and will look to make it a double after winning the League Leader Shield.

Hull KR's fantastic season comes to an end here. They won a play-off game and also made the Challenge Cup final which they lost to Leigh Leopards.

Wigan flew out of the blocks in this game and led 18-0 early which set the tone in front of their raucous home crowd.

Liam Marshall got the party started for the Warriors after Jai Field sliced through and positioned the winger to score and make it 6-0.

Harry Smith put in an inventive kick which Field somehow didn't knock on and touched down after some more video referee intervention.

The hits kept coming for the rampaging Warriors. Marshall picked up his second four-pointer after cutting inside the Hull defense to make it 18-0.

Hull KR got into their rhythm and got on the scoreboard. An offload kept the play going and Elliot Minchella dived over from close range.

The Warriors picked up where they left off early in the second half. Marshall completed his hat-trick with a simple catch then Toby King picked up the scraps for 30-6.

Field was next on the scoresheet. The livewire fullback dazzled past the tiring Hull KR defense to get himself into the action.

It was a parade for the Warriors backline. Another superb pass from Field found Abbas Miski who went over in the right corner for 42-6.

Hull KR did find some late consolation through Jez Litten. He was there to back up after a break to give us the final scoreline of 42-12.

Wigan Warriors had an afternoon stroll in the sunshine which was highlighted by halfback Harry Smith kicking seven from seven goals.
