Brisbane Broncos v Sydney Roosters

Just as the Broncos were back to a full strength side, injuries hit them again. Not only did they lose the game, but they lost some troops along the way, with the Roosters coming out with a bang (for the second time against the Brisbane side in 2024).

The game started off quite tame, with the ball going back and forth between the two teams with some errors here and there from both sides.

Jordan Riki then scored for the Broncos, putting the first points on the board. This came after he has just knocked on the ball in the previous set, with the Broncos were blessed with a penalty with Roosters obstructing Adam Reynolds in the line of play.

Very quickly, the Roosters hit back with Joey Manu scoring the tricolours first try of the night.

The first bad news then hit for Brisbane, with Jesse Arthars making a big hit on Dom Young, leading to a suspected broken jaw.

The trouble doesn't end there for the Broncos, with too many stupid kicks and offloads that end up costing them.

The Roosters dominate the rest of the first half, Angus Crichton scoring a double, with the Easts leading at halftime 18-6.

Overall, the first half saw the Roosters just dominating over and outplaying the Brisbane side.

The second half started out with a mix of emotions for the Broncos side, with Adam Reynolds leaving the field in the opening 5 minutes with a bicep injury, but veery quickly the Brisbane side recovered, scoring two tries in succession.

The dynamic duo of Reece Walsh and Ezra Mam electrified Suncorp Stadium, however that would be the final points scored by the Broncos, who were just beyond battered and bruised.

The tricolours just continued to decimate the Broncos, with their forwards playing such a dominate and strong game. Leading to a try double from Terrell May and Connor Watson also charging over the line.

Roosters go back to back with impressive wins, scoring 100 points combined between last week and tonight's match.

Brisbane will now be looking forward, looking to go an extended period without Reyno and Arthars. Finding a positive for them is hard, but at least they didn't have 50 put on them… so their premiership hopes have to been snuffed out yet.
