Wigan confirm League Leader's Shield in crushing win

Wigan Warriors won 64-0 against Salford Red Devils down at Brick Community Stadium on Thursday night.

The Warriors will lift the League Leader's Shield for the second year in a row and in a prime spot to defend their title.

They started the scoring off quickly with Jai Field unfurling a pass to Liam Marshall on the wing to dive over.

Next, Field sliced through himself to dive over then Bevan French started and finished a move for 18-0.

Wigan were in full flow in a crushing display. From the scrum, a long pass found Zach Eckersley who slid over in the right corner.

Jake Wardle rounded off the first half with a long range effort after picking up the scraps and cruising to the line.

Coming out of the break, Wigan felt just fine. Another backline move found Field in space again and he strolled through for his double.

The Warriors profited from another Red Devils error. Marshall this time scooped it up and evaded the chasing pack to get his second.

They raced through the Red Devils defense with ease. Eckersley kicked ahead and Kruise Leeming ended with the score.

Wigan piled on the points in the later stages. Field completed his hat-trick while French and Leeming both added their second tries for a 64-0 win.

Giants finish on a high against Tigers

Huddersfield Giants won 34-10 against Castleford Tigers at the John Smith's Stadium on Thursday night.

The hosts ended the season in ninth spot after a challenging season but did get to sing the team song once more.

It was Huddersfield who struck first in the game. A spilled bomb fell to Sam Hewitt who weaved past the defense to score.

The Giants scored again from the kick, this time it was punched through, and Harry Rushton pounced to make it 12-0.

They kept up the scoring with another flowing move. It was passed left and Aidan McGowan strolled over.

Tui Lolohea provided a highlight reel moment to make it 22-0. He retrieved a kick, chipped for himself and regathered to score.

The Giants kept their foot on the pedal in the second half. Esan Marsters broke through and set up Adam Clune to go over.

Castleford Tigers got on the board in the second half. Luke Hooley set them up with a huge run then a kick out wide found Jason Qareqare to touch down.

Hewitt made it a double to make it 34-6. He took an offload and danced past a few defenders to stroll over.

The Tigers found a late consolation to get into double digits. Alex Mellor lept highest to retrieve the kick and score.

Robins ease past Rhinos

Hull KR won 26-16 against Leeds Rhinos at Sewell Group Craven Park in their game on Friday night.

The Robins finish in second spot on the Super League ladder despite topping it for a few periods this season.

Leeds were the first side to get on the board in this clash. A short pass found Rhyse Martin who sliced through for 4-0.

The Robins struck back with a flowing move. It was an exchange of passes and Matt Parcell rolled away for the score.

Next, the Rhinos wrestled back the lead through Alfie Edgell who found space on the left and sliced through for 10-6.

Hull KR brought the game back level in from the boot. The swirling kick fooled the Rhinos and Peta Hiku picked up the scraps.

The Robins scored twice after half-time to get into a comfortable lead. Tom Opacic and Sauaso Sue went over for 20-10.

Joe Burgess got into the try scoring act late in the contest. It was a flick pass which sent the winger over in the corner.

The Rhinos found a late consolation through Andy Ackers. He snuck one past the defense and scooted over for 26-16.

Leopards grind past Saints

Leigh Leopards won 18-12 against St Helens in their game at Leigh Sports Village on Friday night.

Both teams will make the Super League playoffs with Leigh finishing fifth and St Helens end in the final spot in the top six.

The visitors thought they were the first on the scoreboard through Tommy Makinson but it was pulled back for obstruction.

It was the Leopards who did find the stripe. A bumping run from John Asiata saw the forward stretch out to touch down.

Next, it was a sweeping backline move from Leigh to make it 12-0. Matt Moylan sliced through and found Ricky Leutele to go over.

Saints were given a strong start to the second half when Leutele was binned for a high tackle on Jack Welsby.

Makinson wasn't to be denied a second time. Saints swept it wide again and the winger produced a strong finish for 12-6.

St Helens were level on the hour mark. Leigh let a kick bounce and Mark Percival tapped it back then Morgan Knowles finished off the move.

It was Leigh who took the two points though. Asiata and Lachlan Lam combined to send Josh Charnley across the line for 18-12.

The Leopards rode a late surge to end the season in fifth and have a chance to make the Super League Grand Final.

Wolves feast on Broncos

Warrington Wolves were 54-0 winners against London Broncos at Halliwell Jones Stadium on Friday night.

The Wolves will hope to take a bite from the competition in the playoffs while it an incongruous end to the Broncos season.

They took an early bite out of the Broncos through Matty Ashton. The winger finished off the move to make it 6-0.

Ashton doubled his delight soon after. Warrington put on a short side play and he dove over for the score.

The Wolves were in full flow in a dominant first half. Danny Walker found Matty Nicholson for the forward to crash over.

It was a first half hat-trick from Ashton. The ball hit the ground but he was fastest to react and angled over for his third.

Some vision from George Williams helped create the Wolves' next score. He kicked wide for Josh Thewlis then it was sent to Arron Lindop to score and make it 26-0 at the break.

The Wolves had a quick start to the second half. Lindop added his second after taking an offload from Thewlis close to the line.

James Harrison crashed over from close range then Thewlis got himself on the scoreboard as the Wolves passed 40 points.

Next, mid-season recruit John Bateman poked through the line and found Nicholson to collect his second of the night.

The Wolves brought up the half century in style. They broke from their own and Ashton linked up with Ben Currie for the latter to score.

Dragons fire past Hull FC

Catalans Dragons won 24-4 against Hull FC in their game at MM Stadium on Saturday afternoon to round off the season.

The Dragons go out on a high but will be disappointed to miss the playoffs after their strong start to the season.

Hull FC fired the first of the contest from the boot. The high kick found Lewis Martin who rose highest to score.

The Dragons struck back in a tight first half. A charging run from Chris Satae saw the forward crash over.

They took that momentum in the second half. Arthur Mourgue found Matthieu Laguerre to slice through for 12-4.

Theo Fages cut through the Hull FC defense before he was tackled. Next tackle, Mourgue took the inside pass to score.

The Dragons finished the game and the season on a high. They swept it right and Tom Davies dived over.

Hull FC will be glad to see the back of the 2024 season after a terrible campaign and finishing second last.
