Hull KR 42
Salford Red Devils 0

Despite having a full complement of players to pick from for the second week in a row, Salford were once again left scoreless this season after being thrashed 42-0 by Hull KR at Craven Park.

The match began in disastrous fashion for both sides. Rovers fullback Niall Evalds was fouled illegally by Salford's Jayden Nikorima which saw Evalds fail a HIA and Nikorima sin-binned for the tackle. Rovers took full advantage of the extra man when Kelepi Tanginoa scored with his first touch of the ball to give the home side the early advantage.

On the receiving end of an 11-3 penalty count, Rovers were allowed to camp down the other end of the field for prolonged periods of the opening forty. Some silky passing outwide was enough to send Oliver Gildart away down the sideline to open up a 10-0 lead. Five minutes later, the new look halves of Danny Richardson and Peta Hiku combined to send Tom Davies over and the floodgates were close to opening early.

Fortunately for Salford, their defence held for the remainder of the first half, conceding only two Richardson penalty goals to trail by 20 points at the half-time break. Makeshift fullback Jack Broadbent crashed over five minutes after the break to extend the margin to start the second stanza.

The sloppy disciplined continued and the floodgates which threatened to break in the first half finally surrendered when former Titan Jai Whitbread crossed for a double to make it 36-0 by the hour mark. The visitors again tested referee Aaron Moore's patience when Chris Hill conceded two penalties in a row and for the second time in the game, Salford were down to 12 men.

Only Jez Litten crossed in the remaining time to give Rovers their best start to a Super League campaign ever. That win was without Mikey Lewis and Tyrone May on-top of the HIA to Evalds and further injuries to Rhyse Martin and captain Elliott Minchella.

For the Red Devils, coach Paul Rowley described the loss as "the worst he's been apart of since arriving at the club" and expressed concern at his side's at times paper thin defence. There could be more pain with the club's finances seemingly not as stable as once thought following the takeover mere weeks ago...

Huddersfield Giants 10
Hull FC 11

An Aidan Sezer field goal in the dying stages of the second half has given Hull FC their second away win of the season, downing Huddersfield by 11-10.

The black and whites started with intent as Sezer proved to be the major difference. A 40/20 early in the first half gave Hull FC attacking field position. The former Tiger proved provider with a beautiful pass to Lewis Martin who beat the outstretched defensive line to slam the ball down inside the opening ten minutes.

Huddersfield quickly got back into the game when Jacob Gagai combined nicely to send Sam Hewitt away. He linked back up with Gagai to score under the posts and give the Giants their first lead of the night. Hull's evening got worse when John Asiata was sin-binned for a shoulder to the head of a player. The Giants took full advantage of the sin-bin period when Adam Swift crossed outwide to make the score 10-4 at the break.

The second half was a tense affair as both sides engaged in a fierce arm-wrestle. Huddersfield were managing the game well until a Tui Lolohea pass was intercepted by Harvey Bannon who sprinted 90 metres to score and level the scores at 10-10 with approximately 12 minutes to play.

Lolohea's judgement was again mistimed when a rushed attempt at field goal sailed wide of the mark. Off the back of a 7-tackle set and a set-restart, Sezer made no mistakes with the field goal to secure win number 2 for Hull this season.

Leigh Leopards 34
Catalans Dragons 6

Leigh have maintained their undefeated start while subjecting Catalans to a winless start of their own, thrashing the French side by 28 points in Leigh.

The Leopards crossed for their first try after 13 minutes when Umaya Hanley stepped past some disappointing defence to score the first of his three tries. It soon became a procession with Leigh running in a further two tries in the opening 40, punishing Catalans for their inability to defend.

A mistimed pass from new recruit Luke Keary came off the arm of a fellow Dragon which landed in the arms of Keenan Brand who sprinted 85 metres to score for the Leopards to open up a 12-0 gap. Keary did all he could to try and redeem himself, a neat grubber kick was nearly re-gathered but as was the case in the first half, Catalans allowed Leigh to run up field and score a fatal try before the break. Jack Hughes went through some pedestrian defence to score and it was 18-0 at the break.

Catalans problems were worsened when Jordan DeZaria was yellow carded in the shadows of half-time for a professional foul. Four minutes into the second half, Lachie Lam combined brilliantly with Hanley as the youngster continued his strong start to 2025 with a great individual try.

Gareth O'Brien continued from where he left off last week as he put Ethan O'Neill away and the score was blowing out rather embarrassingly for the Dragons. Alrix Da Costa gave the Dragons some consolation on the score-board but Hanley completed his hattrick in the shadows of full-time to give Leigh a comprehensive victory to maintain their unbeaten run this season.

Wakefield Trinity 6
St Helens 26

St Helens have handed Wakefield back-to-back defeats, downing the Wildcats 26-6.

Saints opened the scoring after 5 minutes thanks to a Mark Percival penalty goal. The game's first try was scored after 20 minutes courtesy of Jack Welsby. Saints looked set to go over in the corner after Percival's back-handed pass to Jon Bennison but his pass back inside ran loose and Curtis Sironen accidentally kicked the ball behind the line as he attempted to gather, with Welsby first to pounce and the try was given after a lengthy video check.

A few minutes later, Isaiah Vagana crashed over to reduce the gap to two points. However, that was the only time the Wildcats crossed. An error from Tom Johnstone gave Harry Robertson a chance to crash over outwide and he ran in un-touched to score and that was the turning point of the clash. Percival knocked over a penalty goal to make it 14-6 at the break.

Saints knocked over two second half tries to put the issue beyond doubt. Darryl Clark's effort midway through the second stanza was setup by a brilliant offload from new signing Tristan Sailor. Kyle Feldt then continued his amazing start to life in the north of England by scoring in the corner to make it a 26-6 ball-game.

That was St Helen's biggest test of the season so far after two blowout wins to start season 2025. Coming up though, they have their biggest assignment, undefeated Hull KR in what is shaping up as one of the competition's biggest matches so far. For Wakefield, they are putting in the hard yards, but seem a step or two behind the pace of these big clubs. They can take confidence from nearly beating Rovers and keeping pace with Saints though.

Wigan Warriors 48
Warrington Wolves 24

Super League arrived in the Sin City and the USA marks the eighth country in which Super League football has been played in. Wigan showed their clash with a ruthless 48-24 win.

It was a tense start marred by two false starts, Toby King and Liam Marshall both had tries denied for their respective teams and the game was waiting to be broken open. Wigan did just that with a clever grubber kick pounced upon by bench forward Tyler Dupree to give the Warriors the early lead. That effort was matched six minutes later by a spectacular finish from Abbas Miski in the right corner and Warrington were up against it.

Two tries in the shadows of half-time were enough to get the margin out to 24 points and the Wolves were in damage control, simply missing too many tackles and allowing Wigan to waltz up field throughout the first half. Junior Nsemba was the hardest man in Allegiant Stadium to tackle, he provided a great offload which was deflected back to Bevan French to score. With three to go before the break, Harry Smith crossed after getting a pass on the inside from French to score.

The second half was more like a procession with Wigan scoring the first three tries of the half to make it 42-0. Jai Field waltzed over after putting Liam Marshall away down the right before backing up to score. Jake Wardle soon delivered one of the tries of the weekend which went through several sets of hands, started by Bevan French before the centre touched down. Former Bulldog Luke Thompson finished off a great team try moments later and Warrington were looking to be on the next plane home.

Warrington scored three late consolation tries to make the score respectable, the best of which was their first courtesy of a clever grubber from George Williams which was grounded millimetres in the in-goal by Arryn Lindop.

Prop James Harrison and Matt Dufty delivered some further score-board credibility before Liam Marshall added a try to make it a 30 point margin. Matty Ashton got some further respectability on the score-board, sprinting 90 metres to score to make the deficit a much more respectable 24 points.

Leeds Rhinos 38
Castleford Tigers 24

The Leeds Rhinos have recorded back-to-back wins after trouncing the Castleford Tigers by 38-24 in a high scoring Sunday fixture.

It was a tight opening quarter with Leeds threatening for most of the period, dominating field position but being denied by some tenacious Tigers defence. The dam wall eventually caved in when Jake Connor busted his way through some sloppy defence to score the opening try after 22 minutes.

Four minutes later, Keenan Palasia crossed for his maiden Super League try, after backing up a brilliant offload from James Bentley. Moments before the break, a brilliant grubber from captain Ash Handley sat up perfectly for Harry Newman to score and the Tigers were down 18-0 at the break.

Leeds were playing an entertaining brand of football and chanced their arm, running it on the last in their first set with the football after the break. After going through several sets of hands, a Ryan Hall grubber was tapped on, into the arms of Jake Sinfield to score. Seven minutes later, Handley had a try of his own outwide and Castleford were running out of answers defensively.

Eventually they got their way onto the scoreboard when George Lawler busted through, before linking up with Fletcher Rooney who ran 40 metres to score to give the Tigers life. However, two quick Leeds four pointers on either side of the hour mark made the gap 38-6 including the try of the game to Hall after 57 minutes.

What won't please Leeds coach Brad Arthur is the lapse in concentration in the final ten minutes of the game. Castleford scored three tries in that period including an intercept to Zac Cini along with tries to Jeremiah Simbiken and Innes Senior to make the scoreboard respectable. Senior's effort was their best of the game as import Judah Rimbu fooled the defence and threw a lovely cut-out pass to send Senior flying 80 metres to score.
