Hull FC and Leigh share points in thriller
Hull FC and Leigh Leopards played out a 22-all draw at MKM Stadium on Thursday night.
It was the hosts who struck first after getting the ball alive then Jed Cartwright hit the hole for the four-pointer.
The Leopards hit back immediately with a flowing back line move that ended with Tesi Niu powering over.
Leigh were almost caught out on last but a high tackle penalty bailed them out and Aidan Sezer was binned quickly followed by Jordan Rapana who also earned a rest.
The Leopards made use of the two-man advantage. They potted a penalty goal for the 6-4 lead then Umyla Hanley manufactured a try.
Hull FC saw out the remaining time in both sin bins and went into the break trailing by a converted try.
They got back on level terms early in the second stanza. Hull FC's kick bounced kindly for Harvey Barron to touch down.
The hosts hit the lead again through David Armstrong. He used his pace to slice through and slam it down for 18-12.
This game remained a blow for blow affair. Herman Ese'ese steamed onto a John Asiata pass to lock it up again.
Armstrong again popped up for an important try for Leigh when he found the line from a Lachlan Lam pass for 22-18.
Hull FC forced this game into Golden Point by the skin of their teeth. They swept it wide and Lewis Martin dived over then Sezer hit the post!
The Golden Point period was a frantic event but neither team could find a winning point so the points were shared.

Robins hand the Saints first loss
Hull KR won 20-10 against St Helens down at Totally Wicked Stadium on Friday night.
The Robins remain the only unbeaten side through four rounds of the nascent Super League competition.
Hull KR were the first side to get on the scoreboard. Tyrone May piloted a kick that was fumbled and Mikey Lewis picked up the scraps.
It was almost the May and Lewis connection again. The halves combined for the latter to go close but he couldn't reel in the pass.
Saints responded from a kick of their own. Jack Welsby floated across before he punched a kick low for Curtis Sironen to latch onto for 6-4.
Hull KR went right for their second four-pointer of the game. May linked with Jack Broadbent who fed Tom Davis for an acrobatic finish.
Next, the visitors showed off their aerial ability. Joe Burgess rose highest in the pack then popped it for Oliver Gildart to get the easy score.
The two backline men combined again to make it 20-6 Hull KR. Burgess broke through then passed inside for Gildart to get a second.
Welsby gave the Saints a lifeline back into the game in the final quarter. He sliced through the defence and nudged over.
The Saints huffed and puffed but they couldn't inch closer to Hull KR and suffered their first loss of the season.

Tigers roar to first win against Salford
Castleford Tigers won 22-14 against Salford Red Devils at The Jungle on Friday night.
The Tigers open their account for 2025 with a gritty win against a low confidence Red Devils side at home.
Our first contentious point of the night saw Kallum Watkins sin binned after a high tackle on a Tigers attacker.
The Tigers were able to the extra man to their advantage. Daniel Okoro poked his nose through and slung it to Liam Horne to score.
Watkins made up for his indiscretion after setting up Salford's first four-pointer He passed to Ryan Brierley who weaved to the line for 6-6.
Coming out of the break, Tigers felt just fine. Judah Rimbo found some space and fed Muizz Mustapha to go over.
Rimbo then earned the whistle which allowed Tex Hoy to kick them ahead for a eight-point lead early in the second half.
The Red Devils reduced the deficit with a long range score. Ai Morgan scooted through from dummy-half then found Watkins who finished the move.
Marc Sneyd kicked a pair of important goals which levelled the game at 14-all and set up a grandstand finish.
Rimbo capped off a wonderful performance with his own four-pointer. He spotted a gap at the play-the-ball to dive over then a late penalty goal to round off the win.

Dragons shut out Rhinos
Catalans Dragons won 11-0 against Leeds Rhinos at Stade Gilbert Brutus on Saturday afternoon.
The Dragons picked up their first win of the season in a low scoring affair in a wild weekend of Super League action.
The first half was a studious affair where chances were at a premium. Dragons did have Romain Navarrete was binned for a dangerous tackle.
Helping the odd nature of the first half, Dragons won a scrum against the feed then Rhinos Kyle Connor also went to the bin for a dangerous tackle.
Dragons authored the only point of the half from a field goal. Luke Keary positioned himself to punch over the one-pointer.
The Dragons found the stripe in the second half. The ball pinballed back to them Tariq Sims head sup play and Reimis Smith stepped to the line for a 7-0 lead.
The hosts went to the kick again for their second four-pointer. Theo Fages put the kick high and it fell right into Smith's lap to score.
While it wasn't the most aesthetically pleasing contest, Catalans won't care about anything but getting off the mark.

Trinity bounce back with win against Wolves
Wakefield Trinity won 30-16 against Warrington Wolves at Halliwell Jones Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Trinity were impressive across the full game including leading 12-10 at half-time against a star-studded Warrington side.
The hosts scored first from the boot. George Williams roosted one high and Arron Lindop snaffled the ball to touch down.
Wakefield responded from a kick themselves. It was punched through and Jack Croft produced the put down after it was checked off by the video for a 6-4 lead.
Warrington struck back with Williams again the architect. He unfurled a pass for Alfie Johnson who strode over in the corner.
The tit-for-tat nature of the first half continued with Wakefield scoring again. Liam Hood sold the defense a dummy and dived over for 12-10.
Trinity gave the ball air after half-time which underlined their confidence. They exchanged passes and Matty Russell finished off the move.
Hood was heavily involved in the next Trinity raid. He scooted out and found a rampaging Matt Storton to slam it down.
The visitors built on their lead again with Hood starring. He provided a short pass for Caleb Hamlin-Uele to make it 30-10.
Warrington did get a late consolation score to reduce the deficit. Stefan Ratchford served up the kick right to Josh Thewlis to score.

Warriors pile on points against Giants
Wigan Warriors won 44-18 against Huddersfield Giants at Brick Community Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The reigning champions continued their form from Vegas with another high scoring win early in the season.
Huddersfield Giants opened the scoring in this game with a cut-out pass finding Adam Swift to go over in the corner.
Wigan responded with their own free-flowing attack. Passes were exchanged in quick succession and Liam Farrell finished the move for 6-6.
The hosts took their first lead from another backline move. Bevan French started it taking it to the line and Eckersley was on the end of it.
The Giants weren't wilting in the first half. Adam Clune provided a short pass for Sam Hewitt to crash over for a 12-10 lead.
They extended their lead from a solid play with a chip kick that George Flanagan scooped up for an eight-point advantage at the break.
From there, Wigan turned on the screws to take the win. Farrell got his second then follow Liam of the Marshall variety touched down to give them the lead.
Next, it was the French show. He spied a gap, motored through it and wrestled his way towards the turf for the score.
Jake Wardle, Jai Field and Kruise Leeming all found the line to round off for an eventually comfortable win for the Warriors.
