Trinity rise from the dead to beat Tigers

Wakefield Trinity won 13-12 against Castleford Tigers in their game DIY Kitchens Stadium on Thursday night.

It was the visitors who were the first on the board from a long range score. Tex Hoy spun on a kick return then found Jason Qareqare to touch down.

Their next four-pointer came from the boot. Sam Wood rose highest to pluck the kick out of the air to get involved in the action.

They went back to the boot to stretch the lead out to 12-nil. It was placed perfectly for Qareqare to gather it and get a brace.

Wakefield rose into action in the second half. Harvey Smith took it upon himself, scooped up from dummy half and weaved over.

Next, Max Jowitt spun past the defense to score. He dummied to his winger then slammed it down for 12-all.

It was Castleford who had the first shot at field goal. Rowan Milnes faded his effort wide of the left post.

Mason Lino didn't spurn his chance for Wakefield. It wasn't the prettiest drop goal but it produced the ref's whistle for 13-12.

The Tigers had one final chance through Daejarn Asi but his kick also failed to hit the mark and Trinity took the win.

Hull KR made use of the advantage quickly. It was quick hands down the left which released Joe Burgess who flung it to Peta Hiku to score.

The hosts did get on the board through Jack Ashworth. Aiden Sezer punched through a kick and he was able to grab it between the two Robins chasers to score.

Mourgue extended the Robins lead to twelve before the break. He sliced through the defense and slammed it down.

Hull FC kept themselves in the game with a backline move. It was swept out wide and Tom Briscoe planted the ball.

Next, it was another right side move this time with Jordan Rapana going himself and setting up a grandstand finish at 16-14.

Wigan were the first side to cross the stripe. Bevan French directed a kick for Jai Field to steam onto and score.

It was another kick that put the Warriors ahead 12-2 at half-time. Harry Smith's kick rebounded from the pack and Abbas Miski scooped it up.

Their task went from bad to worse just before the break. Moses Mbye was binned for a shoulder charge.

Wigan were also pinged for another dangerous effort and were reduced to 12 when Sam Walters was binned.

The Warriors did get on the board during that period. Smith provided a slick pass for Field to slice through for his second.

Lewis Murphy showed off his superman skills with a diving finish in the corner for the Saints first four-pointer.

Saints further reduced the deficit from Agnatius Paasi. He picked it up himself from dummy half and pillaged his way to the line for 18-14.

It was the Warriors day though and Miski got his second of the afternoon to hand them a ten point win.

The Rhinos picked up where they left off in the second half. A short pass found Kallum Watkins who strolled over.

The one-way traffic continued with a high kick plucked from the air by Ash Handley to touch down for an 18-0 lead.

Leeds turned on the flair in their next four-pointer. James McDonnell exchanged passes then flicked it to James Connor for the try.

Ryan Hall put the icing on the cake for the Rhinos. It was a flowing move which saw the veteran winger go over.

Huddersfield Giants did find a consolation score late on. Thomas Burgess steamed onto the pass to get the visitors on the board.

Leigh Leopards won 18-14 against Warrington Wolves at Leigh Sports Village Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Leopards made it three wins on the spin which has the hosts in third place after the weekend's action.

Warrington hit the scoreboard first after Marc Sneyd piloted home a penalty goal following a high shot on Josh Thewlis for 2-0.

Leigh probed for their first points twice through Lachlan Lam and David Armstrong but they were denied by the video referee.

Lam remained unfettered and laid on a four-pointer. He danced through the line then offloaded for Edwin Ipape to dive over for 6-2.

Coming out of the break, Leigh felt just fine. Lam again poked through the line but this time it was Ethan O'Neill trailing to touch down.

The Leopards took another bite out of the Wolves line through Frankie Halton. He steamed onto a short ball from Gareth O'Brien for 18-2.

Late scores from Toby King and Matty Ashton gave the Wolves some hope but the hosts held on for a vital two points.

The Dragons continue their surge up the Super League ladder and occupy seventh place on the ladder.

Luke Keary and Tommy Makinson combined for the latter to touch down from a pin point kick in the corner.

Next, it was Tariq Sims who kept the legs pumping to stretch out and make it a 10-0 lead for the Dragons.

The Dragons continued to push through the front door of the Red Devils defense. The short pass for Julian Busquet saw the forward crash over.

It was almost a carbon copy for their first score of the second half. Christ Satae this time was the recipient near the sticks.

Makinson made it a double from a scrum play. It was a simple move which ended with the winger touching down.

It was all one-way traffic in France. Matthieu Laguerre was the next on the scoreboard with a surging play for a 32-nil lead.

Salford did get a pair of tries to avoid being held to an easter egg. Jonny Vaughan and Tiaki Chan slid over the stripe for some consolation.

Makinson put the icing on the cake with his hat-trick. It was another precise kick from Keary to give the winger his fourteenth triple.
