Leopards edge Dragons in Magic Opener

Leigh Leopards won 26-24 against Catalans Dragons in the opening game of Magic Weekend at St James Stadium.

The Dragons were the first side to find the line. Theo Fages hoisted a kick for Matthieu Laguerre who plucked it out of the air.

They pushed further ahead with through their fullback. Guillermo Aispuro-Bichet who knifed through the defense to slam it down.

Leigh struck back with a pair of scores before the break. Edwin Ipape spun past the defenders to score then Ben McNamara burrowed his way over.

The Dragons moved out to 18-12 from Reimis Smith. He bumped off a few tacklers to touch down after video consultation.

The Leopards levelled up from the boot. Lachlan Lam's kick was grabbed by Ethan O'Neill to touch down.

Leigh took their first lead from the tee. An offside penalty led to McNamara piloted over the kick for 20-18.

They further extended their lead from a set piece. Owen Trout was turned inside and slipped through for a four-pointer.

Both halves combined for Catalans to get them within two. Fages chipped it for Luke Keary to go over for 26-24.

Leigh were able to see out of the rest of the time to earn themselves a vital two points on the Super League ladder.

Robins thump sorry Red Devils

Hull KR were 54-0 winners against lowly Salford Red Devils on the Saturday afternoon of Magic Weekend.

That result puts the Robins at the summit of the Super League ladder after ten rounds of the competition.

Hull KR barged through for the opener in the game. Dean Hadley brushed past the defenders and put it down for 6-0.

They went the power route again for their second. Sam Luckley steamed onto a pass and went over the line.

Next, Peta Hiku took advantage of the defenders backing off to score then Mikey Lewis broke through and found Jez Litten for 24-0 at half-time.

Hull KR picked up where they left off in the second half. An exchange of passes opened up Salford then Lewis flicked it to James Batchelor to score on the wing.

Following that, it was a debut score for back Noah Booth. Hiku got outside his man then passed to the youngster for 36-0.

The Robins were in full flow in the second half. Luckley and Bill Leyland kept it alive for Litten to acquire his second of the afternoon.

Arthur Mourgue put the icing on the cake with a late brace. His two tries plus nine goals gave him a personal tally of 26 points.

Rhinos beat Saints in low scoring thriller

Leeds Rhinos won 17-4 against St Helens in the final game of Saturday's Magic Weekend slate at St James Park.

The Rhinos bounced back into the winner's circle while they condemned St Helens to three straight losses.

Leeds chanced their arm from their own end with a kick inside for Riley Lumb who slides over for the four-pointer.

They went to their right side for the next try to make it 10-0. They released Alfie Edgell down the wing who in turn found Lachlan Miller to go over.

Saints needed a response after the break. A short pass sent Matt Whitley through and he weaved past the defense to score.

Their efforts were dealt a blow after Lewis Murphy was binned after a dangerous movement in attempting to grab a kick.

Leeds used the man advantage to make it 11-4. Jack Sinfield caught the defence unaware and popped over a field goal.

The Rhinos put the icing on the cake late on. Jake Connor gave Morgan Gannon a short ball and he smashed over.

Giants break the duck against Hull FC

Huddersfield Giants won 12-10 against Hull FC to open the Sunday afternoon slate of Magic Weekend.

It was a maiden win for Huddersfield Giants who moved themselves off the bottom of the Super League ladder.

The first score of the game came from the boot. George Flanagan raised the flags from a penalty goal for 2-0.

The Giants further went ahead from some smart play. Adam Clune put Leroy Cudjoe through a hole to trundle to the line.

Hull FC responded with some flair. John Asiata took it to the line and a late flick to Herman Ese'ese saw the forward go over.

Their comeback was helped further when Thomas Burgess was binned after a late hit on a Giants attacker.

They went close to snatching the lead. Cade Cust had the wraparound play but he couldn't wrestle free from Flanagan.

Tempers flared just before half-time after a hit from Sam Eseh. Both teams had a small chat then Eseh went to the sin bin.

Liam Knight gave us one last spark in the first half. He shoulder charged an attacker and was sent off.

Huddersfield settled down after the break and extended the lead. Clune unfurled a pass out wide to Jacob Gagai to fly over.

Hull FC brought it back to 12-10 despite being down to twelve men. The ball from Davy Litten found Lewis Martin to dive over.

The Giants held on and had huge celebrations at the final whistle after earning their first win of the season.

Warriors down Wolves in close contest

Wigan Warriors won 22-20 against Warrington Wolves in the second game of Sunday's Magic Weekend slate.

The reigning champions have reeled off five wins in a row and sit second on the Super League ladder.

The Warriors struck first in the game. A short pass gave Jai Field enough room to use his pace to go over.

Next, the Warriors gave the ball some air. Jake Wardle with the offload then Field and Bevan French combined for the latter to score.

The Wolves fired their own shot through Matt Dufty. He fired a cut-out pass which sent Jake Thewlis across the line.

Coming out of the break, Wolves felt just fine. Thewlis kept it alive then found a willing receipent in Josh Thewlis who punched through a kick for Rodrick Tai to touch down.

Wigan went into their shape quickly and responded with a backline move with Field providing the pass for Abbas Miski to score for 18-10.

Adam Keighran got an opportunistic four-pointer from a Wolves kick. Jake Thewlis fell over and that allowed Keighran to streak away.

Late scores from Joe Philbin and Jake Thewlis' second gave the Wolves hope but their kicking cruelled them against the Champions.

Trinity blow away Tigers to bring down Magic Weekend

Wakefield Trinity won 32-8 against Castleford Tigers in the final game of Magic Weekend for 2025. 

They got back in the winner's circle and joined the four way tie for sixth place on the Super League ladder.

Wakefield decided to run the ball on last. Harry Trueman found Max Jowitt who sliced through for 6-0.

Next, they took advantage of some sloppy play after the ball hit the ground. It was fed to Caius Faatili to get his first four-pointer in Super League.

Castleford Tigers answered back with a scrum play. It was passed wide for Josh Simm who stretched out for 12-4.

Trinity restored their 12-point advantage before the break. They sent the ball out to the wing for Lachlan Walmsley to score an acrobatic effort.

Wakefield further pushed ahead after half-time. Mason Lino put the kick high and Tom Johnstone reeled it in for 20-4.

The Tigers reduced the deficit from the boom themselves. They kept it alive and Sam Wood dived over.

Wakefield were at the double to win 32-8. Walmsley and youngster Faatili went over for the comfortable win.
