FINALS EQUATION: Sit fourth heading into the final round. The two points for the bye put them on 14 points and raises them to third place - however both Mounties and Newcastle are on 12 points and have differentials which could see them overtake the Roosters. They need one or both of those teams to lose to retain their spot in the top four. If both win, then it will come down to differential - Roosters (+82) are currently two ahead of Mounties (+80) and 20 ahead of Newcastle (+62).

FINALS EQUATION: Firstly, Newcastle need to win to be in with a chance of making the top four, but then they will be relying on other results and differential as to whether they make it. A big win would assist the Knights greatly as their differential sits 20 behind the Roosters and 18 behind Mounties. Cronulla are unable to make finals, sitting four points outside the top four as the final round kicks off.

FINALS EQUATION: The 8th-placed are out of the running, like Cronulla, sitting on 10 points headed into the final round. Illawarra, sitting third prior to the round, will drop to fourth on the Roosters' bye points allocation as a result of their inferior differential (+22). The equation to secure a place is simple enough for the Steelers - win and in. If they lose, they'll need both Mounties and Newcastle to stumble as well in order to retain their place due to their poor differential.

FINALS EQUATION: Canterbury are all but assured a top two finish - only a significant loss in this match coupled with Illawarra winning big v Wests Tigers would see them drop to third. While they are likely unable to cover the 105-point gap in differential over Norths, they could sneak the minor premiership if the Rabbitohs upset the undefeated Bears on Sunday. For Mounties, a win likely delivers them a top four place provided they overcome the two-point gap in differential over the Roosters, and that Newcastle doesn't win by such a margin that they overtake Mounties.
