NSW Graham Murray says he will give skipper Danny Buderus until the last minute to overcome a back injury ahead of tomorrow night's opening State of Origin clash at Telstra Stadium.

Buderus, who has been plagued by back spasms for the last couple of days, sat out yesterday's training session with Penrith hooker Luke Priddis running in his place. Murray says as captain of the side and one of the game's elite players, Buderus is deserving of all the time he needs to overcome the injury.

It is unsure whether Buderus will take part in this afternoon's final training run at Telstra Stadium as he continues to undergo treatment on his back.

As NSW prepare, the Queensland Origin side will jet into enemy territory today. The Maroons arrive in Sydney having enjoyed a relatively quiet build-up at their Coolum base.

They will have their final training run under rookie coach Mal Meninga at Parramatta Stadium this afternoon and head into tomorrow night's match looking for their first win at Telstra Stadium after one draw and nine losses at the Olympic venue.
