The South Sydney Rabbitohs have announced the signing of reigning Queensland Cup Player of the Year and Melbourne Storm squad member Cody Walker for the 2015 and 2016 seasons today.
Walker, 24, has been part of the Storm's system throughout the 2013 and 2014 seasons, playing his football with Queensland Rugby League affiliate, Easts Tigers.
Walker, a five-eighth who hails from the Casino Cougars, the same junior Club as former Rabbitohs player and current Rabbitohs development coach Matt King, represented the Queensland Residents side in 2013, was the Intrust Super Cup's leading point scorer last season, and won the Player of the Year award for the Queensland state competition despite missing the first nine matches of the season through injury.
Rabbitohs Head Coach Michael Maguire says the signing of Walker will assist in building the Rabbitohs' stocks in the halves next season.
"Cody has been on our radar for a while and we're pleased to have secured his services for the next two seasons," Coach Maguire said.
"He's proven himself at Queensland Cup level and we're looking forward to working with him and introducing him to our full time squad next season."
