Wilkin to face disciplinary panel

St Helens back-rower Jon Wilkin must appear before the League's disciplinary committee after being charged with striking an opponent at Huddersfield.

Wilkin was sin-binned and put on report after a challenge on Giants skipper Chris Thorman, and the case has been referred by the video appeal panel.

The 23-year-old will have his hearing on Tuesday before finding out what, if any, punishment he will receive.

It means he could miss St Helens' home clash against Harlequins on Friday.

However, asked if his player is likely to face any repercussions after his side's 18-10 win, Saints coach Daniel Anderson said: "I don't think so.

"He got 10 minutes in the bin and they got heaps of possession from it. They had opportunities to score tries. I think that was penalty enough."

However, Huddersfield coach Jon Sharp was adamant Wilkin should have been red-carded for the tackle, which left Thorman concussed.

Should he miss the game, Wilkin's place could be taken by Willie Talau, who is back for the Saints after suspension, while full-back Paul Wellens could also return after a leg injury.
