NSWRL First Division:Friday, July 26Parramatta StadiumParramatta v. Newtown, 5.35 p.m. (Curtain-raiser to Parramatta v. Brisbane Broncos).
A good crowd turned up last Saturday for the Newtown community reunion day at Henson Park, but the Jets spoiled their own party by turning in one of their more forgettable efforts for the season. Newtown had won handsomely against Balmain four weeks ago, but several of the Jets played on Saturday as if their winning bonuses were already in the bag. Trailing 10-4 at the break, the Jets conceded a further four tries to the Tigers in losing by 36-10.

THE Annual Back To Newtown Day will be held at Henson Park next Saturday, July 20, when the Newtown Jets host the Balmain Tigers in the NSWRL First Division competition.
THE Annual Back To Newtown Day is on at Henson Park this Saturday, July 20, when the Newtown Jets host the Balmain Tigers in the NSWRL First Division competition.
This is the occasion when all Newtown and Marrickville area friends and neighbours, past and present, can rendezvous at Henson Park to catch up on old times, while watching a traditional inner city Newtown - Balmain local derby.
The community reunion concept extends to all Newtown and Marrickville area schoolmates, former work colleagues, and of course former Newtown Junior League and CYO teammates.
Tell all your friends about the Back To Newtown Day, and make sure you all get together at old Henson Park for a few drinks and a lot of laughs - and of course to see Newtown, under the coaching of one of the great Jets of all time, Colin Murphy, really serve it up to the Tigers!
First Division kicks off at 3.00 p.m., and the Metro Cup curtain-raiser at 1.15 p.m.
See you there!
SATURDAY, JULY 6, 2002
THE unforgiving nature of Rugby League was never more evident than at Henson Park on Saturday. The final scoreline of 44-20 in favour of the Cronulla Sharks did no justice to the injury-weakened Newtown Jets, who had been in control for three-quarters of this game. But its what happens at the business end of the match that really counts, as the Jets unravelled in the last twenty minutes.
