SKOLARS TO FACE FIRED UP ROBINS
LONDON Skolars believe they have pulled off a major coup after finalising the capture of one of the rising young stars of South African rugby.
The Wood Green-based club announced the capture of 22-year-old Desi Kadima during the half-time break of Sunday?s Challenge Cup tie at New River Stadium.
THE annual Varsity match is upon us again. This event is highly competitive and is the highlight of the RL season for the respective Universities. It is also the student games highest profile event. Added to that it is scheduled to be shown live on Sky for the first time, outstripping its Union equivalent that has an obscure afternoon slot on a Tuesday afternoon in December.
SKOLARS SET FOR MAJOR CHALLENGE
SKOLARS' start to the competitive season will have to wait another week as their Arriva Trains Cup game at Doncaster Dragons on Sunday was postponed. Heavy rain added to the flooding problems caused by last week's snow, but the call-off at 8.30 am on Sunday morning left coaching staff and players frustrated with the bus all set to depart and the side all fit and raring to go.
SUNDAY sees the Skolars start their second Arriva Trains Cup campaign with a trip to National League 1 side Doncaster Dragons. The potential encounter with former Skolar PJ Solomon is now dependent on the result of the league's disciplinary committee after he was sent off in a friendly last week.
SKOLARS AIM TO TEACH UNI STUDENTS A LESSON
SKOLARS started their warm-up for the forthcoming season with a convincing win against Pro-Plumb Essex Eels on Sunday. Whilst the likes of Doncaster and Hull KR will undoubtedly prove much sterner opposition, the game gave the new coaching team a good chance to look over many of the squad with several new faces impressing on their debuts.
SKOLARS KICK-OFF BOLSTERED BY NEW SIGNINGS
LONDON Skolars player/coach Alex Smits has recently spent a week in Dubai with the London Broncos in their training camp.
