THERE IS NOTHING LIKE RUGBY LEAGUE IN SEPTEMBER...... ...and aren't the Dragons standing up and being counted when it really matters. After 26 rounds of wins and losses, injuries and suspensions, unearthing exciting new talent and seeing other's lose their first grade positions, getting flogged and unlikely victories on the siren, here we are now 2 wins off a maiden premiership for the joint venture. The patience, composure and determination the 1-17 and the coaching staff are all showing at the moment augurs well for the next 2 assignments in our premiership dream. Last weekend's shut-out of Manly was a great achievement for the team and sets them up well for the big clash with the Storm this Saturday night at Telstra Stadium. The MBDS screening was another outstanding success at the Station Hotel with a crowd of just over 50 members in attendance. (See attachment) This represents our second biggest attendance ever, and we are looking to top that this Saturday night in what is a local derby for those of us in the Southern Capital. The Station Hotel will once again host the screening with 2 big screens and audio dedicated to the Greatest Game of All. As The Station is likely to attract a big number of Storm supporters we would love to get everyone out this Saturday night to watch the match and outnumber them in their own city. There is nothing like the passion of a Dragons supporter and the Storm fans will realise this on Saturday night. DRAGONS Supporters, Oh, what a night! In what was one of the most enjoyable evenings in MBDS history we ventured to the Station Hotel in Prahran where Dragons fans were greeted with a venue that is quite honestly the best we have seen in this town. Two massive projector screens; audio beamed loud and clear; great food and drink and a large crowd of red and white supporters - it was the perfect venue for finals rugby league - the business end. And what a fantastic effort! The Dragons we have wanted to see all season turned up on Saturday night to blow the Bronco's off their own turf with a great display of patient, gritty and at times breath taking Rugby League. 3 more display's like we saw last week and we could well and truly have the finals monkey off our back come the first Sunday in October. Led by some inspirational play by the Bookends Ryles and Bailey, the Dragons backs were able to take advantage of the space and field position they were given in a match the Saints never looked like losing. This week's match is against the Manly Sea Eagles on Friday night and we are hoping to smash the MBDS attendence record. Join us for what promises to be another thrilling episode of knockout rugby league. WHAT: Dragons v Sea Eagles, LIVE AND LOUD!! WHEN: 7:30pm Friday 15th September, 2006 WHERE: The Station Hotel Prahran, 96 Greville St Prahran. Let us know if you?re thinking of attending and how many you are bringing along. We want to make sure the Station Hotel is ready for a big night. GO THE DRAGONS!!
DRAGONS Supporters, THE 2006 FINALS ARE UPON US!! After a long and arduous season that at times resembled the Mighty Mouse at Luna Park (you know, up and down and in parts looks a little shaky) the Dragons finished the regular season in 6th position. This puts us in the 2nd final for the weekend at 6:30pm Saturday against the Brisbane Bronco's. MBDS have been working hard to ensure we get the best for our members and have been able to secure a great venue which can both show the game live on the big screen AND guarantee audio for the game which has proven impossible where there are clashes with the AFL in the past. THE STATION HOTEL in Prahran will be our Finals Live Site this week and is a fantastic venue which is known for it's ability to host sports events screening in style. The hotel is located right next door to Prahran train station (with the delays on the Sandringham line you can almost stop in there for a pot on the way home while the train is waiting for the green light it is that close) and is a short walk from Chapel St. Come along and check out the new venue and watch the Dragons as they attempt to beat the Bronco's in Brisbane for the second time this year. DRAGONS Supporters, Only one week of the season proper left and the Dragons are stringing some important wins together. Can they keep this run going until the 1st Sunday in October.....time will tell. One thing is for sure, whilstever Mark Gasnier is out there we are a chance, his form has been brilliant this year and he seems to create something with every touch of the ball. This week the Dragons take on the Roosters for a chance to jump into 4th position and a home semi. The MBDS event last week was back at the Grosvenor Hotel and the fans turned out to watch the local derby. The Grosvenor once again turned on a great Saturday night event, and we expect the same this Saturday night for the 9:20 game. Get in there early and have a meal in the restaurant or for a few drinks before kick off at 9:20 on the big screen. WHAT: Dragons v Roosters WHERE: Grosvenor Hotel, 10 Brighton Road East St Kilda WHEN: Saturday 2nd September, 9:20pm GO THE DRAGONS!
DRAGONS Supporters, After last weeks annihilation of the reigning premiers at Oki Jubilee, this week the Dragons take on local rivals the Sharks in a Saturday night derby at WIN stadium. Using Ben Hornby closer to the ruck and demonstrating more patience with the ball were both critical factors in the win. Clearly we are back in the race. The MBDS were invited to the Melbourne-based West Tigers Fanatics group's screening at the Rising Sun Hotel at Richmond last Sunday . A great afternoon was had by all. Plenty of light hearted banter was flying between both groups, and the Tigers fans certainly felt confident right up until kick off when they realised who they were actually up against and that it was all in vain. Watching the game with another opposing local supporters group added that extra spark to the day and we look forward to the next clash with the Tigers. This week?s screening is at the Grosvenor Hotel on Saturday night against the Sharks. With 2 rounds to go this is another crucial match to boost our run to the semi finals. Get along to the Grosvenor to show your support for the Dragons, and why not enjoy a meal in the restaurant before the game as many of us did last time. See you there! WHAT: Dragons v Sharks WHERE: Grosvenor Hotel, 10 Brighton Road East St Kilda WHEN: Saturday 26th August, 7:30pm LIVE. GO THE DRAGONS!
DRAGON Supporters The West Tigers Fanatics and the MBDS will be getting together for Sunday's screening in what promises to be one of the biggest footy crowds Richmond has seen since Anzac Day at the 'G. The screening will be held at the Rising Sun Hotel, on the corner of Burnley and Swan St Richmond and is a pub that has a great reputation for being a Rugby League friendly venue. It also offers audio for the League on Sunday afternoon's so should be a great event. We want as many of our members to turn up to this match to show the Tigers fans which out of town team has the most supporters in Melbourne so come along and show your colours!! GO THE DRAGONS!! DRAGONS Supporters, There was a huge crowd on hand in the "MBDS Reserve" at Steakout to witness the Dragons disappointing loss against the Eels and despite the loss some of us managed to party on to the wee small hours. While the last few weeks for the Dragons have been a tad lean, no doubt this week we'll see a Dragons team that's MEAN! Reni Matua started the verbals with his comment the Dogs were going to "bash" the Dragons, and our boy Brownie has let his feelings on referee's be clearly known to all with his comments in the press. Just another week in the lead up to a big game in the NRL Premiership. The MBDS screening of this classic encounter will again be held at SteakOut at Crown Casino on Sunday afternoon. This match will be a huge game for the Dragons as they try to get their 2006 campaign back on track. Channel Nine in Sydney have chosen this match to be the Sunday 4pm game, and the SteakOut is the only place in Melbourne you can see the action screened at 4pm. WHAT: Dragons v Bulldogs WHERE: SteakOut, Level 1 Crown Casino WHEN: Sunday 13th August, 4pm
DRAGONS Supporters, After the disappointment of the last few weeks, the Dragons will be looking to make amends this Friday night against traditional rivals, the Parramatta Eels. The Eels having won their last 6 matches will be looking to add the scalp of one of the Premiership favourites to their record, but St George Illawarra have it all to play for in a match that could setup their run to the finals. The MBDS screening this week will be back at SteakOut at Crown - the only venue in Melbourne which can show the NRL at 8:30pm Friday from Channel Nine Sydney. It's been great the last few weeks seeing people wearing their MBDS shirts and other Dragons merchandise so make sure you don the Red and White for this clash. Look forward to seeing you all there. DRAGONS Supporters This week the Dragons take on the Storm in a blockbuster from Jubilee Oval which could well be a preview for this year's grand final. The inside word from the Dragons camp is that the boys are fired up after the surprise loss last weekend and are ready to teach the storm a lesson or two The Steakout Sports Bar is expecting a mammoth crowd of Dragons and Storm supporters and this weekend provides us with the opportunity to show that the Storm aren't the only NRL team supported in Melbourne. Dragons supporters will have the best reserved seats in the house for this event and we look forward to seeing all of you on Sunday at 4pm. WHAT: Dragons v Melbourne Storm WHEN : 4pm Sunday 30 July 2006 WHERE: SteakOut Sports Bar, Level 1 Crown Casino
DRAGONS Supporters Last weeks MBDS event at the Steakout Sports Bar was a great night even though we narrowly lost to the Bulldogs. We were spoilt once again with reserved seating in front of the big screen, and we will be there again this week. This week?s match against Canberra is Sunday?s main game on channel 9. Because of the British Open, channel 9 Melbourne won?t be televising the match until 3am. The Steakout will be televising the match on the main screen at 4pm via a channel 9 Sydney feed. As usual, we have our reserved seating at the front. This is a big game for the dragons and a must win if we are to finish in the top 2 at the end of the season. For those of you who haven?t received your MBDS shirts, you will be able to pick them up at the Steakout on Sunday.
