THE NORTH SYDNEY BEARS are holding an 'Origin Legends Night', for State of Origin 1 on Wednesday May 25 at 6.30pm.
THE crowd was big and loud and the atmosphere terrific as North Sydney Oval once again hosted Rugby League on a Friday night. The game; Bears V Parramatta, a rematch from the first game of the season won by Norths 28-24, was highly anticipated by the crowd. With the late news of Michael Vella to make a comeback in the Eels side and 2 legendary half backs, Gary Freeman and Jason Taylor at the coaching reins everyone was ready for a huge game at Bear Park.
"YOU'RE only as good as your last game" exclaimed S.G. Ball coach Greg Richardson after his boys showed their metal notching up an outstanding win against the Cronulla Sharks. In a try scoring feast in the first half the Bears played quality, mistake free footy, giving them the edge. Great runs from Tyson Muscat and Liam Foran and a tremendous front row performance lead by Matt Cooper to reign in the Sharks attack gave Norths a 4 to 2 try lead at half time.
THE dazzling talent of the Bears Harold Matthews threw the monkey off their collective backs on Saturday as they courageously fought down to the wire against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles. Players Player Lamarn Maa was not only effective but also relentless in defence putting in a huge effort.
A tremendous and electrifying performance from the Bears in the second half of the Premier League game against Manly was not quite enough to over come a 22-0 half time deficit to the Sea Eagles.
IT'S a new season a new coach and a new level of intensity for the North Sydney Premier League team as they begin their season against the Parramatta Eels at the Cabramatta Sports Ground, at 4:00pm on Saturday 5th March.
