Phins win their way into the decider

The Redcliffe Dolphins are through to the Intrust Super Cup grand final after a great second half performance against the Sunshine Coast Falcons yesterday, winning 38-16.

The Falcons started off strongly, scoring two tries in the first half and producing some great defensive work to lead 6-12 going into the halftime break.

"I wasn't worried by the score line, I knew they would focus, we assessed a couple things at halftime and I knew would be better in the second half," Dolphins coach Adam Mogg said.

"It was the boys that put in the hard work, it was a tough week, they got over their hurdles and focused on what they needed to do."

In the second half, the Dolphins defensive effort was fantastic and Mogg said he was pleased with the improvements his side has made over the past few weeks.

"We have made big improvements on our defence and they had a couple lapses through the game which led to tries; but overall I thought it was a solid effort from the boys," Mogg said.

Redcliffe second rower Daniel Bridge scored back-to-back tries to start the second half, with Mogg praising his performance in the match.

"He played well and has improved on his game. He still hasn't played his best footy, but his contribution was good," Mogg said.

Dolphins winger Joshua Beehag scored a try and also kicked five goals to extend the lead for his side and Mogg could not praise Beehag enough for his performance.

"He had a great game. He has gotten better each week. He is a bit of a success story, he is originally a fullback but he learns, listens and his performance was great," Mogg said.

This weekend, the Dolphins will take on the Burleigh Bears for the Intrust Super Cup grand final.

The Bears have a lot of experience in finals games, but the Dolphins have been improving each week and will be tough competition.

"We will focus on what we can control. They are a big and physical team and it will be a challenge," Mogg said.
