The 2017 season draw for the NRL's National Youth Competition - the Holden Cup Under 20's - has been released.
Largely played prior to NRL matches, the competition kicks off at Southern Cross Group Stadium on March 2, when the Sharks host Brisbane. The Sydney Roosters will kick off their title defence away to the Gold Coast Titans on March 4, while runners-up and minor premiers from 2016 Penrith will start their season at Kogarah when the Dragons host them the same afternoon.
Various clubs have made different arrangements for certain fixtures that will be played away from the club's main venue - most notably the Melbourne Storm will play 10 of their 12 home fixtures at Sunshine Coast Stadium as part of their Academy arrangements in Queensland. Only one Under 20's match will feature before a Storm NRL fixture at AAMI Park during the season, with the remaining game being played at Langlands Park on the weekend the NRL club plays as part of a double header at Suncorp Stadium.
Other clubs to take games away from being paired with NRL fixtures include the Bulldogs, who will play several games at Belmore Sports Ground; the Rabbitohs utilising Redfern Oval when the first grade team plays home games interstate; as well as the Eels (Ringrose Park), Titans (Cudgen Leagues), and Roosters (Morry Breen Oval and Central Coast Stadium).
Alongside the NRL, the 2017 Holden Cup Finals Series starts on September 8 and concludes with the final ever match of the competition - the Grand Final - which will be held on Sunday 1 October at ANZ Stadium.
