St George Illawarra has fined club captain Trent Barrett $2,000 for his involvement in a drunken incident at a New South Wales South Coast hotel last week. Injured teammate Mathew Head has been slapped with a $1,000 fine for unruly behaviour during a drinking session at a Warrawong pub last Monday night.
Five-eighth Barrett allegedly stripped down to his underwear and performed push-ups on the bar in front of several patrons. Dragons boss Peter Doust says the owner of the Warrawong Hotel didn't have a problem with the players' behaviour.
But he says Barrett and Head have been fined because they failed to meet the high standards expected of the joint venture club.
