Bowman Remains A One Club Cowboy

Queensland centre Paul Bowman announced on Thursday he would remain with the North Queensland for a further three National Rugby League seasons.

The 27-year-old State of Origin player, currently sidelined with a knee injury, is a local boy hailing from the north Queensland town of Proserpine.

He is also a foundation member of the Cowboys, having made his debut in the 1995 season.

"Its hard to get great centres, Paul is one of them and it is great to have him signed again," North Queensland coach Graham Murray said.

"We are looking forward to Paul's continuing leadership in the club as we move into the top eight in the next few years."

Bowman began his rugby league career at the age of seven, playing for the Proserpine Brahmans.

Following a brief stint in rugby union, the Cowboys first coach Grant Bell spotted him in 1994 while playing for his old team during university holidays.

He made his debut against South Sydney in 1995 and has played 112 first grade games for the club.

In 2000 he became the first Cowboys junior to be selected for State of Origin duties.

"I'm really pleased to be staying here in North Queensland and playing a part in the Cowboys' future success," he said.
