Broncos win in extra time at Toyota
Park

The Sharks supporters tonight saw their team go down to the Broncos in Golden Point time by 16-12 in an absolute thriller at Toyota Park.

The Broncos looked from the onset to put in a big score when after only eight minutes they were easily up by 12-0 on the scoreboard with early tries to Carroll and Webb. To their credit even with next to no ball the Sharks kept themselves right in the match with some outstanding defence against a very polished Broncos attack.

The reward for the Sharks came in the 31st minute when Halfback Jason Kent threw a great dummy to finally get the home side on the scoreboard.

With the lead of just 12-6 at the break the Broncos had to soak up enormous pressure from the Sharks attack. The mould was finally broken in the 64th minute when big Danny Nutley burst through the defence close to the line to score. With the conversion successful, the score stayed locked at 12 all until the 80 minutes were up. Field goal attempts by both sides were unsuccessful so for the third game in as many playing days, extra time was needed to determine a winner.

Both sides had chance in the first five minutes of extra time however the tired and determined defence by the two teams put pay to any scoring chances.

It wasn't until the twelfth minute of extra time that Berrigan managed to break through the Cronulla defence to set up play for Tate to score the match winning try for the Broncos.
