Errant Warriors Chastised

Three New Zealand Warriors who broke a curfew and went out drinking before their National Rugby League match against the North Queensland Cowboys a fortnight ago have been fined by the club, chief executive Mick Watson said today.

Clinton Toopi, Lance Hohaia and Sione Faumuina were fined an undisclosed amount when they faced a disciplinary hearing before Watson this week.

The trio were out late drinking and playing pool in Sydney, two days before the July 5 clash with the Cowboys in Townsville, which the Warriors lost 10-30.

Despite their indiscretion, Kiwis test centre Toopi and potential new international Faumuina have both been named in an unchanged Warriors team to take on Cronulla here at Toyota Park on Saturday night.

Five-eighth Hohaia has dropped from favour after a mid-season slump and will stay in Auckland.

The three players have also been ordered to do extra community service work on behalf of the club.
