Premiers Redcliffe qualified for next week?s Queensland Cup Grand Final with an impressive 46-26 win over Wynnum at Dolphin Oval in the ABC Television clash. With the Dolphins? halves pairing of Michael Roberts and Shane Perry reunited, after Roberts recent injury stint on the sidelines, the home side proved dangerous in attack. Centre Damien Richters crossed for an early try but Wynnum?s Courier-Mail Player of the Year Denny Lambert scored to level the scores at 4 all. A penalty goal and Richters second try extended Redcliffe?s lead to 10-4 after 20 minutes of the match. The Seagulls were guilty of a high error rate and with weight of possession the Dolphins increased their advantage when second row Daniel Green scored for a 16-4 lead at half-time.

Wynnum were desperate for a better start to the second half but a turnover from the kick off led to a Roberts try and then he notched a double minutes later for a match-winning advantage of 28-4. Fullback David Seage scored a great try from a 70 metre kick return and then winger Damien Quinn crossed after a storming run from front row Clayton Maher for the Seagulls to hit back to trail 28-14. But Redcliffe would not be denied and they clinched the win, the Club?s fifth consecutive grand final berth, with tries to Brian Jellick, Ben Jones, Aaron Barba and Adam Starr. Seage was Wynnum?s best and he was rewarded with a second try and hooker Royce Simms also crossed for a try in the dying stages. Halfback Roberts was named the QRL?s ABC Television man of the match.

Redcliffe wins in the Mixwell Competitions sees the Club in all three grades with the grand final programme commencing at Dolphin Oval at 10.30am with Norths Devils v Redcliffe in Colts, then 12.10pm Wynnum Seagulls v Redcliffe in A grade and Burleigh Bears v Redcliffe at 2.10pm in the Queensland Cup.
