Redcliffe Dolphins News

Two solid wins and a disappointing loss for the Dolphins last weekend when the Wizard Cup side prevailed against the Comets and the Colts proved too strong for the Western District Panthers, unfortunately the A Grade suffered their second loss of the year to the last placed Panthers who take the bragging rights for season 2006.

The Colts responded admirably to a tough week after a change in the Coaching staff was announced on Thursday. The side played with a real sense of determination to account for a fired up Wests outfit to the tune of 36 points to 14. Matt Gillett added to his 4 tries the previous week by crossing for another 2 while Asher Elemani put in a polished display to receive the LEADING EDGE SPORTS Man of the Match Award. Others who deserve a mention for good performances are Takai Tamiotikiau or ?Tux? for short and the ever reliable Logan Sullivan.

The A Grade were out enthused by a side who has had 2 of its 3 wins of the season over the Dolphins. Coach Grant Cleal couldn?t put his finger on why the side battles against the Panthers but did concede the Panthers played an up beat style of game that put his players on the back foot for most of the night. Jim Douglas was his sides best and received the HOGS BREATH CAFE Man of the Match Award with the consistent Dom Fallini and Colt Tim Benson also making a good account of themselves.

The Wizard Cup sides 24-6 victory over the Comets last week was one of the sides best performances of the year. In appalling conditions the Dolphins ball control was outstanding however the sides defence was the foundation for the win conceding only the one try. Despite the conditions the game was of a high standard and if the Dolphins had been slightly off their games the Comets would have been hard to beat. Rory Bromley was a standout at five eighth and received both the SEARLES GARDEN PRODUCTS & KEYSTAR AUTOWORLD Player of the Match Awards while Adam Starr, Chris Fox and Shannon Fish all had solid games.

Congratulations to our Queensland under 17 contingent Ben Jones, David Hala, Joel Romelo and assistant coach Paul White for their efforts in Queensland's win over New South Wales. Also well done to former Dolphin Adam Mogg on his debut for Queensland in the Origin game. It may have been Adam who in Sydney but certainly not at our Club. Moggy was one of the most popular players in the Club during his five year stint with the Dolphins. On a sad note commiserations go out to Life Member Bob Jones and his family who have recently lost Bob?s father Doug. Doug was a popular figure around the Club having spent time working in the Leagues Club and also as the junior game day steward for a couple of years. The Dolphins sends our best wishes to Bob and his family.
