Panthers v Broncos preview
82 mins ago | Rhys Sullivan
An emphatic 50-12 win by the Manurewa Marlins has ended any chance of a repeat title for the Mt Albert Lions. The Marlins were slow off the blocks, but in doing so managed to soak up a lot of the pressure Mt Albert was applying. It was the Lions who scored first after a quarter, however the try proved little consolation. Manurewa hit back soon after and stormed out to lead 28-6 at the break. The Marlins were led by no other than Bruce Anderson, the quick stepping fullback managing a double for his second successive week of finals footy. The real advantage came in the forwards, with the Manurewa pack holding nothing back. They were dominant throughout the 80 minutes giving Mt Albert little if any chance to get into the game. Stand-off Walter Hati also managed to sneak over for a couple of tries, whilst half Aaron Woodhouse kicked seven from nine. The win means Manurewa will face the Mangere East Hawks next week.
