Minichiello fails medical test

A lower back problem has forced Australian fullback Anthony Minichiello out of the Bundaberg Rum Rugby League Test against New Zealand at Suncorp Stadium. Minichiello was put through a full scale fitness test on his injured hamstring on Sunday afternoon and passed fit to play.

Sharks Leagues Club Development Plan approved

The Cronulla Sutherland Leagues club has confirmed that the NSW State Government and Planning Minister Frank Sartor has approved Sutherland Shire Council's proposed Local Environment Plan to expand the ranges of uses on the Sharkies Leagues Club land at Woolooware. The proposed new uses will pave the way for an integrated modern mixed-use centre that will help to secure the financial stability of the Sharks well into the future.

Redfern no more

Redfern Oval that has hosted Rugby League for many decades saw its last game of Rugby League last month pror to the re-development of the ground. The last game involving Souths to be played at the ground before the make-over, was on April 22 when Souths took on the Western Suburbs Magpies in the Harold Matthews and SG Ball Cup competitions.

The road to the 2008 World Cup

Four tries from outstanding Moscow Dynamos centre Denis Korolev saw Russia ease to a 40-14 victory over Holland in The Hague, as the first steps were taken on the road to the 2008 Rugby League World Cup in Australia. A big, athletic visiting outfit had too much all round power for the gallant Dutch who had the honour of scoring the competition's first try through Coventry Bears' second rower James Howitt in the sixth minute of an entertaining clash.
