Sweet as,
bro'

Hot on the heels from their seventh, and possibly most disappointing loss of the year, New Zealand Warriors chief executive Mick Watson has assured club coach Daniel Anderson that his position at the helm is secure despite an atrocious run of form and the departure of star forward Ali Lauiti'ti.

In a very surprising turn of events - most people had them as a top four team this year - the Warriors are firmly entrenched at the bottom of the table and have won only two games all year. Add to that the pressure exerted on Anderson in the lead-up to the ANZAC Day Test and the fallout with Lauiti'ti, and you've got a recipe for disaster.

And whilst they certainly haven't avoided that so far this year, CEO and high profile NZ entrepreneur Mick Watson has told Radio Sport that Anderson has his support. He says the former Brian Smith pupil has "built the football strategy and also driven the club for the past three years and it would be commercially immature to get rid of him".

That's all well and good, but Anderson must be under all sorts of pressure to keep his job next year. He has done some great things since coming into the Warriors fold, but it looks as though he no longer has the support of the players he's coaching with most of them turning in sub-par performances week-in, week-out.

And as far as I'm concerned, it's a very strange thing for Mick Watson to just go on radio and announce all's well. You never believe anything until it's officially denied.
