Warrington Wolves 36 - Hull FC 34

Kiwi winger Henry Fa?afili grabbed a hat-trick as Warrington Wolves snatched a thrilling 36-34 engage Super League victory over Hull.

Warrington looked to have the points sewn up when they led 30-12 early in the second half but Hull hit back in style to lead 34-30 until Graham Appo went over for his second try in the 77th minute, with substitute Chris Bridge landing the conversion.

It was tough luck on Hull, who played their part in the 13-try thriller.

Hull went ahead after only two minutes when slick passing sent full-back Shaun Briscoe over with Danny Brough booting the conversion.

But Warrington struck back in style to run in three unconverted tries to lead 12-6 after 24 minutes.

Half-back Lee Briers, who later quit injured, and Nat Wood were at the heart of the attacks. Briers still created the chance for Martin Gleeson to put Fa?afili over for his first try.

Then the Kiwi winger touched down in the corner after Wood?s kick caused panic in the Hull defence.

Brent Grose then raced 70 metres before Warrington went further ahead on the half hour when Hull should have prevented Briers passing to Ben Westwood with Graham Appo planting the conversion.

Hull badly needed a try before half-time and Michael Eagar obliged after a long-range run from Richard Whiting, with Paul Cooke adding the extras to put his side only 18-12 down at the break.

Warrington looked to have sewn up a fourth successive win when Appo went over and Fa?afili completed his hat-trick after 52 minutes with Chris Bridge booting both conversions.

But then Hull staged their astonishing comeback with Whiting going over after 54 minutes and then Cooke scoring despite the suspicion of a forward pass in the build-up.

Kiwi Stephen Kearney added Hull?s third try in five minutes with Cooke converting all three to tie the scores at 30-30.

Hull were taking charge and it was no surprise when prop Paul King powered over from close range 15 minutes from time.

But in a pulsating finish Hull failed to deal with Nathan Wood?s grubber kick with Appo touching down four minutes from time - and Bridge coolly slotted over the conversion.
