Weekend of footy has high toll so
far

It's been a tough weekend for some clubs with leading players Clinton Schifcofske (Raiders), Adam MacDougall (Rabbitohs) and Brent Tate (Broncos) all suffering serious harm.

Canberra could be without their gun fullback for up to six weeks with a rib injury after he hobbled off after halftime in the club's heavy 46-10 defeat at the hands of Melbourne yesterday. He'll learn the full extent of his injury this week.

South had a dog of a day at Brookvale too, with Adam MacDougall being struck down with a hamstring injury early in the game. "Mad Dog" is injury prone at the best of times and yesterday's and yesterday's 48-14 smash-up by handed Manly their best start to a season since 1997.

They now lead the competition outright on 12 points.

Meanwhile, the Broncos are optimistic that centre Brent Tate will make a quick recovery from the recurring shoulder complaint he aggravated against Cronulla on Saturday night. He will have tests later in the week.
