The bulk of the squad lists for this weekend's NRL pre-season trials have been named. Check out who's playing for your team this Friday & Saturday.
The South Sydney Rabbitohs have issued a statement this afternoon refuting earlier reports that prop George Burgess was set to make a switch to rival club Parramatta. Several media stories had the Burgess twin heading to the Eels as soon as this season, but the Bunnies have left no doubt he'll be staying put in cardinal and myrtle for the duration of 2019.
The Brisbane Broncos have punished rookie forward Payne Haas after he failed to cooperate with the NRL Integrity Unit. The club released a statement this morning indicating Haas will miss Brisbane's remaining trials as well as the first four rounds of the NRL competition, as well as issuing him with a $20,000 fine.
The NRL IU investigation relates to an incident involving the player's family which the club has chosen not to reveal further details at the request of all parties.
Cronulla-Sutherland CEO Barry Russell has penned an open letter to fans of the 2016 premiers, covering off a range of key matters surrounding the club. Among matters covered were the switching of Saturday's trial from Brookvale to Shark Park, staffing changes within the Leagues Club and Football Club, praise for new head coach John Morris and new signings Josh Morris & Shaun Johnson, the club's response to the coach & governance suspension and the subsequent salary cap investigations, as well as the challenges facing the club attracting sponsorship and an off-field matter from late 2018. Russell then went on to highlight a range of positives including the clubs' work within the community and strong membership tally.
Tickets to the inaugural match at the new Bankwest Stadium in Parramatta are selling fast, with the Eels confirming that Gold, Silver and Platinum tickets for the Easter Monday clash with Wests Tigers have sold out.
There are still bronze and general admission tickets available via Ticketek.
Parramatta's annual commitment to the Northern Territory is on show this week, with school and community visits aplenty. Today the blue-and-golds visited the school at Ti-Tree, between Alice Springs and Tennant Creek on the Stuart Highway.
The Sydney Roosters have arrived home and today confirmed there are no fresh injury concerns following Sunday's 20-8 World Club Challenge win over Wigan in the UK.
