Broncos hit by injury but ultra impressive against Tigers

Wests Tigers v Brisbane Broncos

The Brisbane Broncos may have some injury worries but they turned on the style with an impressive 34-10 win over the Wests Tigers at Campbelltown Stadium in front of 17,000 fans.

Starting fast, the Broncos weren't able to take their first opportunity when space on the outside opened up for Deine Mariner who lost the ball with the line wide open. The second effort though worked as Mariner was able to just keep himself inside the field of play to score.

The Broncos continued to target that side of the field but just couldn't get the last pass or kick to stick heading Mariner's way. The Tigers were up against it with their attack holding no potency and then a brain fade from Samuela Fainu tackling Corey Oates who was on his way to take a quick 20m restart saw the rookie sent to the sin bin for a professional foul.
It was only a matter of minutes later the Broncos took and an Adam Reynolds kick for Reece Walsh worked perfectly except the bounce of the ball favoured Jock Madden who scored for the visitors rather than for Reece Walsh.

Despite being outplayed completely, the Tigers thought they had a try but Peter Gough in the bunker got the technicalities out of the rule book as Api Koroisau's effort was denied by the fact that the ball had come away from his grip and was ruled not to have regathered it before grounding it.

To rub salt into the wounds of the Tigers having the disallowed try as Reece Walsh went to the middle of the field and showed his electricity in attack as he went back to the middle of the field to score. Adam Reynolds converted from in front to give Brisbane a 16-0 lead at the break.

The second half started the way the Broncos finished as a dumb penalty from the Tigers inside the first minute gave the visitors good field position and they took advantage when Jock Madden picked up his second try of the game.

Another try came for the Broncos at the 55 minute mark when Adam Reynolds ran across field having the defence holding off him before turning the ball back inside for Reece Walsh and the change of direction was unstoppable and Brisbane lead 22-0.

Injury concerns started to mount for both teams with Api Koroisau going off the field with a back injury for the Tigers whilst Jock Madden suffered a Pec injury with both leaving the field. The Broncos managed to add another as Payne Haas was able to reach out and score.

Despite the dominance of the scoreboard, things didn't go all the Broncos way with major injury concerns to both Reece Walsh and Adam Reynolds coming from the field despite multiple times being given the all clear by the trainers. The Tigers put some respectability to the scoreline with two late tries to Charlie Staines to close the gap to 34-10.

Next week, the Tigers have an important clash against the Bulldogs whilst the Broncos will be sweating on the condition of four key playmakers as they have a clash back at Suncorp against the Roosters.
