May 29 will see the commencement of the new look Rugby League Ireland Conference.

The twelve team competition is divided into two provincial groups in Munster and Leinster with the top two from each group playing off for a place in the Grand Final on August 14.

In Leinster, the opening day sees newcomers Clontarf make their RL debut against the East Coast Eagles while champions Dublin City Exiles begin the defence of their title with a home tie against Churchtown Warriors. Last years beaten finalists Dublin Blues kick off their campaign against potential dark horses Kildare Dragons.

The Munster Conference is potentially 'The Group of Death' with five new teams joining 2001 champions Cork Bulls who take on Kerry Kings in their opening game. Ones to watch in Munster will be the Treaty City Titans from Limerick. They will meet Waterford Vikings in thier opening tie. The other fixture sees Kilkenny Wildcats host Midleton Devils.
